Letter from the 'Editor'

Hello LSSPs,

We have made it to winter break! I hope you will be able to spend some time relaxing and enjoying activities with friends and family!

January is a big month for presenters, so check out the sessions listed in this newsletter! If there is a waitlist, please sign up! I know work gets busy in January and intensifies as the semester goes on. If you have already signed up, but cannot attend, please cancel your registration so someone on the waitlist can sign up!

Please check out our professional development sessions we are hosting at Region 10! You can use this link here to see a list of trainings scheduled for LSSPs (this link we be updated as new trainings are added, so be sure to save it).

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy Holidays!

TSBEP announced the proposed rule regarding the LSSP title change has been posted in the Texas Register! They are now accepting public comment. If you would like to share your thoughts on the proposed rule, you can follow the link below.

Contact Us

While Council staff attempt to be responsive to telephone calls and inquires, due to a heavy call volume and limited time and resources, the best method for contacting staff is via email. This allows staff to provide you with a considered written response and minimizes misunderstanding which sometimes can occur in telephone conversations.

Creating Learning Environments That Are Safe Havens

Check out the blog post linked below addressing the overarching impacts of trauma! This post is part of a series addressing the Trauma Learning Policy Initiative discussions. Given the chaos of the last few years, our students and their families are struggling more than ever. While educators can't fix all of the issues our students face, we can take into consideration the various situations impacting their lives when providing services and supports.

Creating Learning Environments That Are Safe Havens - Trauma Sensitive Schools

In this post, we note how trauma-sensitive school leaders focus on creating learning environments that are safe havens, where students are met "where they are" and supported as such to re-connect, to develop needed skills, and to maintain their physical and emotional health and well-being.

Looking to Contract? Region 10 Opportunity

Region 10 has recently expanded our Direct Services department to add some new positions. These irregular part time positions are an effort to support smaller school districts and charters that do not need a full time evaluator, but want to have an easier time to bring in contractors when needed. To that end, Region 10 is looking to add special irregular part-time evaluation professional positions.

If you are an LSSP who is looking to or currently contracting with LEAs and would be interested in this role, you can learn more here.

See the "LSSP - Temporary Part-time" or "Bilingual LSSP - Temporary Part-time" listings for more information. If you have additional questions, please contact Shelee Duke, Assistant Director for Direct Services.
