Testing Update from Our Instructional Coach
Testing has been underway at Sidener! This year there has been a switch from the traditional NWEA testing for grades 1-5 to NWEA testing for grades 1 and 2 and DIBELS testing for grades 1-5. DIBELS, Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills, is a fantastic research-based program developed from the University of Oregon. It tests phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, accuracy, fluency and comprehension at different grade levels. These are all of the indicators for basic foundational reading skills.
DIBELS reports will be sent home this week. The report will show which of the tests were administered and your child's results. NWEA score reports were sent home last week. If you did not receive this information, please reach out to your child's teacher to request your child's results.
