From the Principal

The school year has started off wonderfully! A new year brings hope and excitement. A big thank you to all the families who attended our Meet the Teacher nights; your involvement helped our students feel more comfortable on the first day. There have been many smiles and lots of enthusiasm as the students learn their classroom routines and get to know their classmates. Please make sure to sign up for our Maconaquah App to receive notifications and access information about events. This newsletter will be posted weekly in the NEWS section and can also be found on our website.

AP CORNER AP CORNER

Mr. Freije - Mac El

It's wonderful to see all the students arriving at school with high energy, smiles, and excitement! This week, Mrs. Snyder and I met with each grade to discuss our school expectations and how to handle peer conflicts. The meetings were productive, and I appreciate everyone's participation. I am looking forward to another fantastic school year!

Mrs. Barker - Pipe Creek

We have absolutely loved seeing all of the smiling faces filling our hallways and classrooms during the first few days of school! It has been a joy to watch our students eagerly learn so many new routines and procedures already. We want to extend a huge thank you to all of our families for their cooperation and understanding as we navigated the first-day drop-off and pick-up. Your patience and support are so appreciated and help make for a smooth start to the year. As we settle into the new school year, we are reminded of the words of Rachel Carson, who said, "A child's world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement." We can't wait to explore this new world with your children throughout the year.

Change in Transportation Change in Transportation

Contact Front Office at your child's building

If there is a change in your child's transporation, whether they will be picked up or riding a bus, it MUST be communicated with the front office. This can be done by sending a note to school or calling the office. If you call the office, please make sure you speak with a person. There is a central list at each elementary school, which allows us to check when students are unsure and the teacher may not be available. Do not just send a message to the teacher. The office MUST be notified. Thank you!

NOTE: Transportation changes should be in to the office by 2:00 pm.

Maconaquah Elementary Reminder

Please note, cars are not to be parked in the lanes between 8:10 am and 3:00 pm. It blocks other cars from coming and going when they have business at the school. Please be respectful and park in a parking spot if you arrive before the designated time. Please share this with anyone picking up your child. We appreciate your assistance.

ABSENCE VERIFICATION

In an effort to maintain good communication between the school and parent, students and parents can expect the following procedures to be followed when students are absent from school:

  1. Parents are asked to phone the school attendance office before 9:00 AM each day their child is absent from school.

  2. When parents fail to call in, an automated call will be made to the phone numbers on file with the school.

  3. Doctors’ notes are to be submitted as soon as the student returns to school following an illness.

Please note that according to School Board Policy C175, the board reserves the right to verify such statements and to investigate the cause of each:

A. prolonged absence;

B. absence of more than three (3) days duration;

C. repeated unexplained absence and tardiness.

Did you know...? Why Daily Attendance Matters:

  1. Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.

  2. Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance is a strong predictor of academic achievement and future opportunities.

  3. Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential skills for success in life.

  4. Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships, which are crucial for emotional and social development.

  5. Healthy Routine: Attending school every day establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.
