Welcome to SUMMER!

Summer Is Officially Here!

Parents,

As we end another successful academic year, I wanted to thank you for your support, collaboration, and trust throughout this amazing school year. Your partnership has been vital in creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our students at Lieck Elementary!

Your involvement in your child's education, whether through volunteering, attending school events, or engaging in open and honest communication with our teachers and staff, has had a profound impact on their academic growth and personal development. Your dedication and encouragement have fostered a love for learning and provided a strong foundation for their future successes.

As we reflect on the achievements and growth of our students, I am reminded of the countless moments of joy, curiosity, and accomplishment that have filled our halls throughout the year. Each milestone reached, each hurdle overcome, and each spark of passion ignited is a testament to the incredible partnership between home and school.

Students in K-5 would have received an end of year MAP family report that outlines the growth and achievement for your child for this school year. This is a great way to see how your child did in both math and reading. Click on the link below to get more information on how to interpret the MAP family report.

A Family Guide to Understanding MAP Growth

Students in grade 3rd-5th that took STAAR do not have their final scores yet. We are anticipating final results to be available on HAC during the summer months. Please see information and flyer below that outlines how families can access STAAR and TELPAS assessment results.

Please have your student use that link to join the summer reading challenge and log their reading this summer. If your student earns the ice cream badge, they'll be invited to an ice cream party in the library in August! Yay!

🚌New this upcoming school year: Register to ride the bus🚌 🚌New this upcoming school year: Register to ride the bus🚌

To ensure smooth, reliable bus transportation for the 2026–2027 school year, eligible families must register their students in advance.

Northside ISD provides school bus transportation for students who live more than two miles from their assigned neighborhood campus. Students residing within the two-mile walk zone are generally not eligible unless their route includes a Board-approved Hazardous Traffic Condition.

“Registering early helps us plan routes efficiently and make sure every eligible student has a smooth start on the first day of school,” said Transportation Director Tesi Soliz. “We encourage families to complete the quick registration process as soon as it opens so we can provide the safest and most reliable service possible.”

Families can use the Buses & Boundaries System to check whether their physical address qualifies for bus transportation.

Families new to Northside ISD may register for bus service during the New Student Registration process. Currently enrolled families can sign up during the Returning Student Registration, which begins March 16.

To guarantee transportation on the first day of school, all eligible students – new and returning – must register by June 30.

Bus transportation for eligible special education and magnet school students will be scheduled separately.

Udpate Your Child's Immunizations

Texas law requires all public school children to have current immunizations to attend class. Northside ISD encourages parents to have their children immunized before the first day of school.

For more information please visit https://www.nisd.net/schools/health/vaccinations

A Word from the Nurse

The school nurse does not diagnose illnesses but takes notes of the symptoms and notifies the parent/guardian of the observations. If a child becomes ill or injured at school, the student will be assessed and given first aid, and the parent/guardian will be notified if the severity of the injury or illness warrants such action.

Children should be kept at home when ill and are expected to be free of fever (temperature less than 100.0° F) and free of communicable diseases in order to attend school. In accordance with the Texas Administrative Code, students are required to be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications. The Texas Department of State Health Services defines fever as a temperature of 100.0°F or greater. This is important for the health of the child and for the health of all children at the school.

Student Dress Code

The NISD Board of Trustees approved revisions to the District’s dress code policies for the 2025-2026 school year. The new policy allows for the wearing of shorts by all students (Pre-K -12) as long as the shorts are mid-thigh length or longer. As with the previous policy, the final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the campus principal or his/her designee. Guidelines for the new dress and grooming policy are available in the linked file.
