๐ถ A Wonderful Year in Primary Music! ๐ถ
As the school year comes to a close, Mrs. DiSchiavi and Mrs. Edmondson want to send a big thank you to all of our amazing Primary Music students for a fantastic year filled with music, creativity, and fun! It has been such a joy watching our students grow as musicians throughout the year. From singing and movement to rhythm games and activities with rhythm sticks and tambourines, our music classes were full of energy and learning.
๐ต Our youngest musicians in kindergarten and first grade had so much fun discovering the basics of music. Our second and third grade students began diving deeper into musical concepts, practicing increased independence in music reading and other skills that will prepare them for fourth grade music.
Students learned how to:
Identify the three parts of music: rhythm, melody and harmony.
Read rhythm patterns with quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, whole notes and more!
Read melody using the solfege scale and kodรกly hand signs.
Identify musical terms such as accelerando/rallentando, legato/staccato, allegro/largo, and piano/forte.
Sing and discuss a wide variety of musical styles, identifying attributes like syncopation, song form, melodic contour, ostinato, and text painting.
All of the musical skills learned in Primary Music help build a strong foundation for the next step in their musical journey.
๐ A Special Message for Our 3rd Graders ๐
We are so proud of you and excited for what comes next! Next year, you will have the opportunity to join Strings or Vocal Music in 4th grade. The musical skills you have been building in Primary Music are designed to help set you up for success, no matter which path you choose. We look forward to welcoming our new students next year and continuing to make music together!
Thank you for a wonderful year of singing, learning, and making music. Keep the music going all summer long! ๐ถ
