PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Friday, March 6th Friday, March 6th

Our 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders completed their first week of IAR testing and it went incredibly well. Thank you all very much for partnering with us to ensure it was a success! I expect our final week of testing to go just as smoothly so thank you in advance for limiting absences and ensuring students come to school well rested, well fed, and with a positive mindset. Some students created motivational posters around the school. One says IAR and they added words to each letter to stand for I Am Ready! Please send them to school knowing that you believe they are ready to do their best on their test.

We are currently still only at an 16% response rate for our 5 Essentials Survey! We need a 20% response rate for a report to be generated. We are so so close! Please help us get to 20% so a report can be generated!

Please complete the survey HERE today!

Please mark your calendars for our next Student Council sponsored Spirit Day on Friday, March 20th!

Thank you very much!

We were fortunate to be visited by school board member and Author, Deb Tranter, on Tuesday afternoon! Deb took us on a journey from caterpillar to butterfly with her book "Melissa the Marvelous Monarch" - a story that celebrates transformation, courage and the magic that comes from believing in yourself.

We are so grateful to Deb for giving us her time and for sharing this amazing story with us all. Students were encouraged to believe in themselves and to be brave when trying something new or during times of change.

K-5 INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM RESTRUCTURE (NEW POST!) K-5 INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM RESTRUCTURE (NEW POST!)

Please read the message below from Diane Kaffka, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services

You may have noticed in the staff news that was erroneously sent to families this morning, a message regarding the restructuring of our K-5 Instructional Program which includes a reference to Patton Elementary School. Our intention was to first present this information at the upcoming Board of Education meeting and then provide an opportunity to meet with the Patton community to share details and answer questions.

The K-5 Instructional Program is a district-wide program currently located at Windsor Elementary School and we determined the need to restructure to a dual-site model which includes opening two classrooms at Patton Elementary School to welcome students who require that level of support and live in the north-side elementary schools (Thomas Middle School feeder schools). This approach will allow students to begin developing foundational relationships with peers who will attend the same middle school, fostering long-term social stability. It will also help families in that area build a stronger sense of belonging and connection to a school closer to home.

We are presenting a phased plan beginning in the 2026-27 school year welcoming kindergarten through second grade and gradually expanding to all grades by the 2029–30 school year. This phased plan will allow us to thoughtfully integrate the program while maintaining the high standards of support and care that define our school and district programs. We will be offering an informational meeting with the Patton community in the future. More information to come!
