Dear Basswood Families,

Our students are settling into the school year nicely. The daily rhythm at school has been established and our students are doing great. This year's kindergarten group is doing especially well! They are navigating all that is new, making new friends, and are already making their principal proud.

During the winter months, our school maintains a pretty consistent temperature. However, when we are between seasons, the temperature inside the building can vary throughout the day. To ensure that Basswood students are comfortable during the school day, I recommend that they dress in layers. The ability to add something when it is a little chilly or take off a layer when it is warm, can help your children feel more comfortable at school.

Finally, please mark your calendars for the first PTO meeting of the year. Join us on September 24th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the Basswood Media Center. I hope to see you there.

In partnership,

Steven Schwartz
Basswood Principal

What do I need to do to volunteer at school?

We welcome and encourage volunteers at Basswood. You can complete an online volunteer form online at apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Nzg0OmVuLVVT and work with our volunteer coordinator, Lisa Yamaya. Volunteer information will go home the first week of school. Activities in a normal school year include being a classroom assistant, helping with classroom parties, helping with PTO sponsored activities (Carnival, Basswood Bingo, Book Fair, etc.) along with numerous other opportunities. We continue to follow state guidelines and adjust our volunteer program accordingly.
