Good Morning Memorial Families,

I hope that everyone had a terrific weekend. Spring is certainly here and I can feel my springtime allergies creeping in with every bud that pops out of the trees and bushes. But the weather is a bit warmer and the days are longer, and that brings me happiness. We turn the calendar to April this week, which just seems impossible, but yet here we are!

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, April 4th and 5th, our third and fourth graders will participate in the state MCAS testing for English Language Arts. We ask that families of our third and fourth graders do your best to ensure a good night's sleep and we ask that you do your best to have your child here on time. Students who arrive after a class begins testing will not participate that day, and will instead participate on a make up day. We will take the math portion of the test on May 16th and 17th, and we ask for strong attendance to limit the number of adults who will have to support make up tests on other days.

Last Friday our school crossed the 1 million puzzle threshold in our ST Math program. At the start of the year, we set two goals. The first was to reach a million puzzles and the second was to get every child 80% of the way through their grade level journey in ST Math. We reached the first goal, and we are on our way to reaching the second goal in the coming months. This year we have focused less on the number of minutes that children are solving puzzles and more on the number of puzzles they are solving each week. Students set weekly goals and try to meet them so that we can meet the larger goal by June. We are really doing a terrific job on this and our students just love JiJi! Congratulations to Ms. Black's fourth grade class for guessing the exact date that we would hit one million puzzles. Their estimation skills are quite impressive!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Wendy and Lauren
