From the Desk of Dr. Rikki Hunt Taylor
Dear Meridian PCS Parents and Families,
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
I want to extend my sincere thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigated recent winter weather and changing updates to school schedules and virtual learning. Your flexibility and partnership during these moments meant so much to our school community.
As we move into February, we are excited to celebrate Black History Month across both our elementary and middle school campuses. Students will engage in meaningful lessons and activities that honor Black history, culture and contributions; reflecting our commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive learning.
Looking ahead, family-teacher conferences will be coming soon, offering an important opportunity to connect around your student’s progress and growth. We are also beginning to share plans for new curriculum and instructional strategies for the 2026-27 school year, and we encourage families to stay connected, ask questions, and plan ahead as we continue your child’s educational journey with us.
With Literacy and Justice for All,
Dr. Rikki Hunt Taylor
Executive Director

Campus Connect
Stay connected with what’s happening at each campus:
Wake Up Wednesdays at the ESC | In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Black History month, our ESC students are hosting weekly community days, including a kick-off assembly with the Creative Arts Team, gallery walks displaying custom student art, and more. Families are invited to attend to tour the campus this month and explore what our ESC students have created.
Decades through Designs at the MSC | In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, our MSC student crew clubs are transforming their classroom doors into museum-style exhibits. These exhibits will highlight significant events, eras and historical figures in Black History, turning the MSC into our very own history museum! Families are invited to attend to tour the campus this month and explore what our MSC students have created.
Beyond the Classroom
What a season for Owl Nation Basketball at the MSC! Our Lady Owls finished the regular season 5–3 and made the playoffs for the third straight year—a true testament to their hard work and dedication.
Our Boys Basketball team made school history with a 6–2 record, earning the #2 seed and the team’s first playoff berth, capped off by a thrilling 29–28 win.
The boys advanced to the Conference Championship held on Thursday, Feb. 5. Congratulations to our student athletes for a highly-successful season and their efforts to perform their best in the classroom before scoring on the court!
