What is 1 For Schools?
On the November ballot, Chesterfield County voters will be asked to vote on a proposal that would dedicate a 1% local sales tax for Chesterfield County Public Schools capital renovations.
Under Virginia law, revenue generated by the tax could only be used on capital renovations for schools. It could not be used for salaries, operating expenses or other non-capital costs. Chesterfield County will host joint community meetings in September and October to provide information about the proposed 1% sales tax referendum on the ballot this fall.
County and school leaders will provide an overview of the proposal, discuss the proposed priority projects and answer questions from attendees.
Oct. 8 — Facebook Live, Noon
Oct. 19 — Facebook Live, 6 p.m.
Visit chesterfield.gov/1ForSchools to learn more about the referendum, eligible projects and information before you head to the polls.
Attendance Awareness Month
Let’s show up. Connect. Belong. September is Attendance Awareness Month, and every school day is an opportunity for your student to learn, connect and grow. Consistent attendance helps students keep up with learning, strengthen relationships and feel a greater sense of belonging at school.
Families can help by establishing routines for bedtime, mornings, transportation and appointments. If health concerns, transportation, family responsibilities or other challenges are making attendance difficult, please reach out to a trusted adult at your student’s school. We are here to listen, help solve problems and connect your family with support.
Goal 3- Midlothian Middle School has accepted this challenge and will carry out many strategies to ensure our students show up daily!!! More details to come but know that this challenge is special to our school community as we want every one to show up EVERY DAY they are able to. Let's make connections and know that your student will begin their weekly check-ins with their Mustang Morning teacher this week (details to come).

Attendance Procedures
To report absences, late arrivals or early dismissals please email carla_hagen@ccpsnet.net
Daily Tardies:
We have a new automated late pass system which is student-facing and located within the main office. When students log-in with their student identification number, they will automatically be recorded as Unexcused Tardy. If your child is arriving late due to an appointment, please have them bring a note from the provider and direct them to give that note to Mrs. Carla Hagen. You may also send the note or email Mrs. Hagen (carla_hagen@ccpsnet.net) the note if your child forgets on that day. Thank you for your cooperation as students have done well thus far with our new electronic sign-in system.
Walking/Transportation:
To request a daily walking note or a change in transportation, please email Ms. Martin at (donna_martin@ccpsnet.net) before 9:30 am. Please note, riding on other buses at this time is limited as we remain in touch with transportation as several routes are at or near capacity. If a route is full, we will give you a call and let you know that your child will need to remain on their normal daily transportation mode. In addition to emailing, your student may bring a note from home to Ms. Martin (donna_martin@ccpsnet.net).
Hispanic Heritage Month
Chesterfield County Public Schools is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th. We honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of our Hispanic and Latino communities.
Denim Drive
Each year during the Denim Drive, families donate used denim clothing of all kinds. Goodwill tracks the denim donated on behalf of each Chesterfield County school, then awards nine cash prizes to the top three #oneCCPS elementary, middle and high schools. The denim is sold in Goodwill stores or recycled. Clean out your closet and support school… Let’s go!!!
