Parsons Pirates Update
April 15, 2024
Message from the Principal
The Solar Eclipse was such an amazing way to start the week! Students and staff were absolutely captivated by the phenomenon. We had done a lot of planning to ensure that everyone was safe and students followed all of our expectations. A big thank you to Mrs Linge for teaching all about the solar eclipse and how to be safe so that our students had background knowledge before the big event. It was definitely a memorable experience for students and staff to share together!
Sincerely, Sarah Aherne

Third grade begins this week! A big thank you to parents who donated snacks for their child's grade level. Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep, eats breakfast, and is on time for school.

Kindergarten Round Up
Kindergarten Round up is this week! We can't wait to have all of our incoming Kindergarteners come to visit!
We will open the doors at 6:00 and you can sign in, get your tshirt, take your picture, and talk with our PTO. There will be three rotations and you will be put in a group. You will rotate through three areas and the students will have an activity. At the end, families will get on the bus for a ride and get their yard signs.
Visit our website for more information about enrollment!

We LOVE our teachers! Don't forget to shout out a staff member!
Run Club is Back!
We invite students in grades 2nd through 5th to run/walk every Wednesday morning before school. Each Run Club morning is weather dependent, of course. If it is raining, or the weather is unsafe for runners to participate, that day's Run Club will be cancelled. Proper cold weather attire is recommended on days it is chilly. The course is the track located behind our school. Start time is 8:00 AM sharp. We will be on the route until the school doors open. Students will track their mileage each day they participate.
Our Club needs many volunteers along the track. We appreciate each child's family member volunteering for AT LEAST ONE Run Club morning. You will stand along the track and monitor for safety.
If your child was registered for Run Club in the fall, you DO NOT need to reregister him/her.
Please fill out this form to register your child. The final date to register is Friday, April 12th. Thank you--we look forward to a successful spring season!

School Safety
All doors are locked during the school day. If you come to school, you will be buzzed into the foyer area and office and then asked to show identification before your child is released. All visitors/volunteers in the building must report and sign in at the office. Visitors must wear a badge in the school building. All volunteers in the classroom and for field trips must have a background check on file each year. Just a reminder that if you have a felony conviction you may not volunteer in the classroom or on field trips.

Teacher of the Month
Jamie Churches', State Representative HD 27, office has a new ‘Teacher of the Month’ nomination form available on their website. As always, they wish to highlight the phenomenal educators of our district and showcase their incredible efforts in the classroom, with our students, and within the school community. I have attached the link to this email for your convenience. As they receive nominations, her team will reach out accordingly to schedule a day/time to present the award to a teacher per school month. Last year, Brittany Gurney received this award. We have so many awesome educators!
