A Note From Superintendent Conroy
Dear Members of Our School Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we move into this final stretch before April break. With the longer days, warmer temperatures, and the first signs of spring beginning to emerge, I am hopeful that we will soon see flowers pushing through and a bit more sunshine to lift our spirits after a long winter.
As we head into this busy and exciting time of year, I want to take a moment to share a few updates and, most importantly, express my sincere appreciation for your continued support of our school community.
Leadership Transition
Earlier this week, our longtime principal, Jeremy Ross, shared that he will be stepping down from his role at the end of the school year. Over his 26 years with the St. Johnsbury School District, Jeremy has served in a variety of roles, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to our students, staff, and community. His impact has been significant, and his dedication to this school over the years will not be forgotten.
While we will certainly feel his absence, we are confident in our ability to move forward with a strong and thoughtful leadership transition. We extend our gratitude to Jeremy for his years of service and wish him all the best in his next endeavors.
To support this transition, we will be forming a Principal Hiring Committee. If you are interested in participating, please share a letter of interest with Vanessa Koch at vanessa.koch@stjsd.org no later than May 5th, 2026.
Strategic Planning Process
Looking ahead, we are preparing to launch our next strategic planning process. This work will begin next month and will guide our district into the future, resulting in a new strategic plan by January 2027.
We will be forming a Strategic Planning Committee to help guide this important process and ensure broad representation from across our community. If you are interested in participating, please share a letter of interest with Charlotte Holt at cholt@stjsd.org no later than May 5th, 2026. We will also be sharing surveys in the coming months to gather input from stakeholders, your voice is essential as we shape the future of our district!
Legislative Update: Act 73
At the state level, conversations around education reform continue as part of Act 73. Lawmakers are exploring ideas that could impact how school districts are organized and how they collaborate with one another.
Some early proposals include the possibility of regional service areas and adjustments to district structures to support greater efficiency and coordination. These discussions are still evolving, and no final decisions have been made.
Our district is actively engaged in conversations with neighboring districts to better understand what these changes could mean for our schools and community. We will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.
Staff Appreciation Week & Kudos Campaign
The week of May 4th marks Staff Appreciation Week, which coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week. We are excited to celebrate the incredible individuals who make our school such a special place for our students every day.
We will be launching our Staff Kudos Campaign once again, providing an opportunity for students, families, and colleagues to recognize and celebrate individual staff members. I want to personally thank each member of our team for their dedication, expertise, and commitment to our students and community.
As we head into April break, I hope this upcoming week provides you and your family time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments together. When we return, we will be entering the final stretch of the school year, and I am confident that, together, we will finish strong.
Wishing you a restful break and hoping that the sunshine and signs of spring continue to brighten the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Karen E. Conroy
