Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year

Dear Rose Hill Intermediate Families,

Welcome back to another exciting year at Rose Hill Intermediate School, we're so glad you're here!

My name is Nikki Garcia, and I have the honor of serving as your Intermediate Principal for the 4th year. This is my 9th year in administration and my 18th year in education, and I can honestly say I love what I do more each year. My husband, EJ, and I are raising four kids right: KJ, who is working hard toward his electrical apprenticeship to become an electrician and attending Butler County Community College; Nick, a junior at Rose Hill High School; Luke, a 7th grader at Rose Hill Middle School; and Emery, our 5th grader at RHIS! We love Rose Hill and the people we get to share it with, and our family is just as excited as yours for this school year to begin.

We can't wait to see our hallways buzzing with energy, laughter, and learning once again. At RHIS, we believe school should be a place where kids feel safe, supported, and challenged to grow, and that all starts with strong connections between home and school. This year, we're focusing on building positive relationships, growing every student's confidence, and celebrating progress, big or small, every step of the way, and remembering that mistakes are a valuable part of the journey. Equity matters deeply to us, and we are committed to making sure every child feels seen, supported, and celebrated. And yes, we believe in having fun while we learn!

One of my favorite parts of the day is spending time with your children, especially in the mornings! You'll often find me in the gym greeting students, playing music, and starting the day with them. It's something I truly enjoy and value. Because of that, I kindly ask that if you need to meet with me, especially in the mornings, you schedule a time in advance so I can give you my full attention without taking time away from our students.

A few key dates as we kick off the year:

  • Monday August 10, 2026 —Rocket Rally
  • Wednesday, August 12, 2026 — First Day of School
  • School hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:10 am–3:25 pm (doors open at 7:45 am); Wednesday late start, 9:25 am–3:25 pm (doors open at 9:00 am)

For the full 2026–2027 district calendar, please visit the USD 394 District Calendars page.

As your principal, I'm here to support every student, every family, every day. Let's make this year unforgettable, for all the right reasons!

With Rocket Pride,

Nikki Garcia

Why Daily Attendance Matters

Showing up every day sets students up for success academically, socially, and emotionally. Here’s why it matters:

✅ Missed Lessons = Missed Opportunities
Even one day out can mean falling behind on key lessons, activities, and class discussions.

📈 School Today, Success Tomorrow
Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic progress and opens doors to future opportunities.

💪 Resilience in Action
Being present every day builds habits of responsibility, perseverance, and grit.

👯 Stronger Friendships
Daily attendance helps students form strong social bonds and feel more connected at school.

🧠 Healthier Habits
A consistent routine supports mental and physical wellness, for kids and families.

Need support getting your child to school?
We’re here to help. If your child is hesitant to come to school, reach out to Mrs. Garcia. We can help!

Let’s make 2026–2027 a year of growth, connection, and daily learning for every student, every day.

You’ll receive a printed visitor badge sticker, which should be worn on your chest area during your stay.
If a staff member sees you without a badge, they will kindly escort you to the office to get one.

Parents are always welcome to join us for lunch! Just a heads-up, Fridays are a blast around here, so things can get a little loud (and a lot of fun)! 🎉

How To Make Online Payments

School Fees

Enrollment is open (both walk-in and online). Remember to pay for textbook fees, daycare fees, add lunch money, and more through PowerSchool!

Here’s how to get started:
1. Log into
PowerSchool using a web browser (not the app).
2. On the left-hand menu, click "Balance".
3. Click the green “
Make a Payment” button on the right hand side above the fee box.
4. You’ll be taken to the Rose Hill Webstore/RevTrak.
• You’ll need to sign in or create a Webstore account if you don’t already have one (this is separate from your PowerSchool login).
• This helps link your student(s) to your Webstore account and allows you to track payment history.
5. Add any items - like fees, activity ID, or lunch money - to your cart. Make sure you do this for each child on your PowerSchool.
6. Check out and go back to PowerSchool and refresh the page to make sure the payment applied.

You can choose to pay by e-check or credit/debit card, and payments are applied to your student’s account immediately.

If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to your school office.

Helpful Tid Bits

  • Start easing back into school bedtimes/wake times about a week before August 12 — intermediate-age kids need 9-11 hours of sleep.
  • Do a "trial run" morning a few days before school starts (alarm, breakfast, getting dressed) to work out kinks before it counts.
  • Pack backpacks and lay out clothes the night before to cut down on morning stress.
  • Doors open at 7:45 am (9:00 am on Wednesdays)
  • Update contact info and emergency contacts in the online enrollment/registration system before the first day.
  • Download the Rose Hill App
  • A labeled water bottle and a labeled backpack/jacket go a long way at this age, things get left behind fast.
  • Confirm lunch account balances are loaded and know how to add funds online.
  • Talk positively about school and validate first-day jitters, even confident 5th graders can feel nervous, especially about new teachers or friend groups.
  • Encourage kids to identify one adult at school (teacher, counselor, front office) they can go to if they need help.
  • Follow the RHIS' Facebook page
