FAMS Family Updates
August 25, 2026
School officially starts next week, and our teachers and staff have been working hard all summer to prep classrooms, plan fantastic lessons, and get ready to welcome everyone back.
Whether you are stepping into our building for the very first time as a 6th grader or coming back to set the standard as an 8th grader, you belong here, and we are thrilled to kick off this new school year together.
To make sure day one is stress-free and smooth for everyone, please take a few minutes to carefully read all of the information below. Taking a moment to review these details now will ensure your student is confident, prepared, and ready to roll next week.
Enjoy these final days of summer break, get some good rest, and get ready for a great year. We’ll see you all next week!
Student Schedules
PLEASE NOTE: CHANGES IN SCHEDULES MAY STILL TAKE PLACE.
We hope you are continuing to enjoy the days of summer as we are approaching the countdown to the start of school.
Schedules are now viewable in PowerSchool on your student's account under Student Reports. Please know that if an originally selected class did not fit into a student's schedule, their school counselor replaced that class with one of the student's alternate choices.
If you have questions about your schedule, please reach out to your school counselor.
Jessica Pletcher, School Counselor for last names A-L, pletcherj@fortschools.org
Sarah Traut-Ebert, School Counselor for last names M-Z, trauteberts@fortschools.org
PLEASE NOTE: CHANGES IN SCHEDULES MAY STILL TAKE PLACE UNTIL SCHOOL BEGINS.
TODAY: 6th Grade & New Student Building Orientation Night
Tuesday, August 25th
Students new to the middle school along with their parent(s)/guardian(s) are invited to attend orientation night at F.A.M.S on Tuesday, August 25th. You may attend any time between 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Students are welcome to walk through their schedules and familiarize themselves with the layout of the building and to find where each of their classes will be located. Student schedules can be accessed using PowerSchool prior to this event, and we will have additional schedules available here as well.
Teachers will not be in their classrooms for this event but will be for our Open House to follow on the evening of September 8th.
DO NOT bring in your school supplies at this time, as lockers will not be assigned until the first day of school. Bring your supplies with you on the first day of school.
The Fort Atkinson Middle School Website
Please take some time to explore the information on our school's website. Here you will find all of our up to date information and learn of all the happenings at the middle school.
In addition, every quarter we update our family newsletter that we will email out and post on our website. Please take a few minutes to read these as there will be information in there that will not be duplicated in other places.
September 1st
ONLY 6th Grade students report for school on September 1st!
We invite 6th grade students only on September 1st, so they can get a better feel for the building and get to know each other a bit better.
We invite our 7th and 8th grade students back on the 2nd.
Ice Cream Celebration!
Families of 6th grade students are welcome to join us at dismissal for an ice cream sandwich and a chance to hear from your student about their first day.
This will take place right outside of the Main Entrance of F.A.M.S. at student dismissal @ 3:10 pm.
If you cannot make it, don't worry, students will still be dismissed at 3:10 pm and busses will still be running.

Youth Mental Health is Crucial
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Fort Atkinson School District Community,
As the new school year begins, supporting our youth's mental health is more important than ever. The new school year can bring feelings of both anxiety and excitement as students transition into a new grade or perhaps even a new school.
We have provided a Back to School resource packet for parents and families who are navigating through this time. Click here to access the kit.
By working together, we can create an environment where our children thrive. As a reminder, Care Solace partners with our school to offer valuable mental health care coordination services to connect you with community-based providers for counseling, therapy, and more.
To access Care Solace:
- Call 888-515-0595: Their multilingual helpline is staffed 24/7/365.
- Visit caresolace.com/fortschools: Explore mental health providers independently or click "Book Appointment" for personalized assistance.
By joining hands as a community, we can provide a nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well-being of our youth. Let's prioritize their emotional growth and create a brighter future together.
Thank you for being dedicated parents in the Fort Atkinson School District community. Your commitment to our youth is truly commendable.
