Hermosa School Family Newsletter
September 2-6
Hornet Families,
Happy Friday Hornet Families! On our only "scheduled" Friday of the year we had great attendance and I appreciate everyone's dedication to their child's education. This week we kicked off our activities with our two middle school runners taking on the Tomahawk Cross Country Course, the volleyball team winning all of their games in Custer, and our Custer/Hermosa 6th-8th grade football team putting on a great performance in their scrimmage against Hill City. Great job players and coaches, keep working hard, and remember winning never gets old!
We do not have any important events next week, but we are back to our normal Monday-Thursday schedule with Friday off. I hope everyone has a great weekend and remember to check out the new information below and pictures from the week!

Happy weekend! With the end of this week, it feels like we are all getting this "school thing" down.
This week in counseling lessons, our younger students read "What Should Danny Do? School Day." As mentioned last week, this interactive book allows the students to choose for Danny. In our first option, Danny could choose to ignore his mom and keep playing or listen to his mom and get ready for school. Students knew what Danny should do but we decided to see what would happen if Danny kept playing. This one choice caused Danny to miss the bus, make his dad late for work, not get to sit by his friends, mess up show-and-tell, upset his friend, and have to be late for recess. Our choices matter, impacting us and everyone else around us.
This week 4th grade created goals for themselves for the new school year. During the next few weeks, the 3rd, and 5th - 8th will do the same. We are always changing and growing. Encouraging ourselves to try hard helps us achieve. Here are a few goals from 4th grade:
"To get better at running"
"Make my parents and teachers proud"
"Get better at division"
"Work harder on my cursive writing"
"Do better at math"
Enjoy the short weekend!
