Munger Hill Newsletter- November 2026
Dear Munger Hill Families:
As we enter the month of November, we are reminded of how much we have to be thankful for at Munger Hill! Gratitude is about recognizing the people who make a difference in our lives and taking the time to let them know how much they are appreciated.
We are incredibly thankful for our teachers and staff, who dedicate themselves each and every day to supporting, encouraging, and inspiring our students. Their hard work, compassion, patience, and commitment help make Munger Hill a special place where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
We are thankful for our families, who continue to support our school community in so many ways. Your partnership, encouragement, communication, and involvement make such a difference. We appreciate the trust you place in us and are grateful to work together to help our children reach their fullest potential.
Most importantly, we are thankful for our students! We are so proud of the hard work, determination, and commitment they show each day. Whether they are learning something new, overcoming a challenge, helping a friend, or making positive choices, our students continue to show us what it means to be the best versions of themselves. Their smiles, enthusiasm, and growth are what make Munger Hill such a wonderful place to be!
As a Munger Hill community, let's continue to find ways to show our gratitude through kind words, helpful actions, encouragement, and appreciation for one another. It is the little things we do each day that make a big difference.
We are grateful for our teachers, our families, and most of all, our students. Together, we make Munger Hill a special place to learn, grow, and belong!
Wishing all of our Munger Hill families a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with happiness, gratitude, and time spent with those who matter most!

What has been happening at Munger Hill?
Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Hannah Roy
1) How long have you been teaching, and what brought you into education?
This is my 16th year teaching and all 16 years I have taught kindergarten. This is a special year to me as it is my 13th year in Westfield so my first kindergarten class from Westfield is graduating high school.
2) What is your favorite thing about being a teacher at Munger Hill?
I love the community at Munger Hill. The teaching staff welcomed me 13 years ago and it has become the home I had hoped it would be. Munger Hill is a place where you will always be greeted by staff with a smile and a place where we work together to find success.
3) What is one thing you hope your students learn from you?
I hope my students learn to love being in school and that I care about them very much. I also hope that they learn that it is ok to make mistakes but to not give up on challenges.
4) What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I spend a lot of my free time in Vermont with my family. We ski every weekend of the winter at PICO mountain and enjoy boating in the summer.
5) What is something your students might be surprised to learn about you?
I enjoy being around motorcycles. My family has always been interested in dirt bikes, racing, and having fun outside. My husband and I share this enjoyment and ride a motorcycle in our free time and our kids ride dirt bikes.
6) What is your favorite food, book, movie, or TV show?
My favorite food is cheese! I love all kinds of music and enjoy going to concerts. I like to watch funny family movies and I enjoy reading books on the beach.
7) If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I often joke that I don鈥檛 have a magic wand so If I could have a super power I would have a magic wand that could make things happen quickly.
8) Describe Munger Hill in three words!
Welcoming, Caring, Inclusive
Munger Hill on Superintendent's Spotlight
Munger Hill Elementary was featured on the latest episode of the Superintendent鈥檚 Spotlight! Students from Mrs. Khan鈥檚 class joined the radio show to discuss their work with Investigating History, an inquiry-based program focused on Massachusetts history. In addition to sharing their learning, the students had fun putting the Superintendent to the test with some trivia questions. To top off the visit, everyone celebrated National Donut Day with delicious treats made by Westfield Technical Academy鈥檚 culinary students. Our students did a fantastic job and made the experience truly memorable! Please find the complete show here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0C1QA1Nt25g
Spirit Day
Wild About Westfield
Hands-on learning in action! Our second grade classes loved exploring nature with Wild About Westfield. Before heading outdoors, students made predictions about what they would discover, and they were thrilled to learn all about the animals and insects that call Westfield home.
