Dual Language Offerings 26-27
JL Long is looking to expand our Dual Language offerings. To complete the Dual Language course requirements, each student must be enrolled in two dual courses per year. For the 2026-2027 school year, we will not only have Dual Language Spanish and Math, but we also will begin to build a foundation with DL World Cultures and DL English/Reading. Our goal is to build on course offerings each year to reach our vision of being the premier middle school in Dallas ISD.
Coffee with the Principal
Join us at 10 AM on March 10th in the JL Long Library to participate in Coffee with the Principal!
Student Surveys are HERE! 📢
Each year, students complete a Panorama survey through Clever rating teachers in instruction and classroom support. Our students will complete this district requirement on March 24th at 9:50 AM. Gentle reminder, teachers are not able to provide surveys to their own students so we will have a student survey switch plan.

To begin the Advanced Science pathway, students must meet the following criteria. We heard concerns and questions on this last year, and it is always our goal to strive for supportive clarity.
Did you know that in Advanced 6th grade Science, students will learn a full year of 6th grade TEKS and learn half of 7th grade science TEKS? It moves FAST!

Buc of the Week: Ms. Bricker
Ms. Bricker supports our Deaf Ed program and always steps up to support students. Through writing Individual Education Plans, tracking student data, and translating, she truly helps advocate for students and helps to educate our staff on deaf education. This week Ms. Bricker demonstrated excellence in so many ways that went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure students received services required for academic success and social emotional wellness.
Students vs. Staff Game at Woodrow
Our student vs. staff basketball game was moved from Friday March 6th to Friday March 13th! We are excited for students to purchase wristbands and head to Woodrow for some fun! A "no fly" list of students has been provided to the 8th grade committee to ensure that all students who will go over to the game at Woodrow meet our tardy and discipline expectations to be eligible.
