Creating a Culture of Kindness
Bullying Prevention Week
This week, our Student Senate leaders visited classrooms to lead lessons for Bully Prevention Week. They shared a mini-lesson on kindness from the Character Strong curriculum and guided students through a fun “Stomp Out Bullying” writing and coloring activity to show our unity against bullying.
In classrooms, teachers helped students understand the difference between mean moments, conflicts, and bullying, and discussed what to do if they witness or experience unkind behavior. Students also learned about the term “upstander” someone who speaks out and supports others rather than standing by.
As a school, we took a pledge to be upstanders: to speak out against unkind actions, stand up for others, and seek help from trusted adults when needed. We are proud of the thoughtful conversations and caring community our students are building together.
Conferences
Conferences are now available to schedule in Skyward! They are 11-24 and 11-25 from 3:30-7:30pm. Please reach out to the office if you have any questions!
I hope you all have a safe and not-so-spooky Halloween! And remember to turn back your clocks on Sunday, we will be back bright and early on Monday morning.
Your Principal,
Jim Mitteness

Students of the Week!
What is a Student of the Week?
At Cold Spring Elementary, our Student of the Week program is an important part of our PBIS framework and the Spartan Way: Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Each week, one student in every grade (K–5) is recognized for consistently demonstrating these values. Winners are celebrated with an announcement over the intercom and get to choose from a fun menu of prizes, such as having lunch with a staff member or writing with a special pen. By highlighting positive choices and celebrating students who model the Spartan Way, we encourage all learners to see the impact of kindness, respect, and responsibility in their daily actions. This focus on the positives helps build a supportive, motivating school culture where every child feels valued and inspired to do their best.
Congratulations to our Students of the Week!

See your Color Run donations in action!
We wanted to give you an immediate look at how the amazing funds raised from the Color Run are already benefiting our school community. Here's what's happening now:
- 1. Boosting Field Trip Assistance: We have increased our field trip allocation to $25 per student. This means over $15,000 will go directly towards exciting educational trips the school has planned.
- 2. Upgrading Recess Time: The kids can look forward to new recess toys/equipment. We are researching grade level needs. Stay tuned for an announcement and pictures of the new gear!
- 3. Supporting Our Teachers: We have created a new teacher's fund to help our educators enhance their classrooms. Grant applications for this fund are now open to eligible teachers and support staff.
PTO is looking for new members! If anyone is interested in helping us connect with our CSE community, please reach out to us at csepto@rocori.k12.mn.us or on Facebook at CSE Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
