MARCH HUSKIE HOWL
STUDENT FOCUS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on Kymrie Buck, a student who embodies kindness and positivity in all areas of our school. Kymrie is always quick to offer encouragement to her classmates, whether in the classroom, at recess, or during special events.
One of her favorite ways to spread positivity is out on the field, where she can often be found cheering on students as they run laps and helping pass out beads to celebrate their progress. Her caring nature and willingness to help make her a true leader among her peers.
Kymrie’s bright smile and positive attitude help make Shadow Butte Elementary a welcoming, happy place for everyone. We are so lucky to have her as part of our school family!
Way to go, Kymrie! 🌟

Staycation Spring Break
Spring break is coming up and while it can be a fun time for some, it can be a stressful time for others. Consider making your spring break a staycation this year.
Here are some ideas of things to do:
Themed Dinner Nights- or kids cook night
Movie Night
Local Culture- go to the Gem County Museum or another location where you can learn more about Emmett History.
Community Project- see if there are service opportunities you can engage in this week
Game Night
Scavenger Hunt- I grew up with scavenger hunts to find my picnic lunch, it was a fun way to do something while my mom was getting things together.
Visit the library
Need some more ideas? Check out this Spring Break Bingo card https://primaryplayground.net/free-printable-spring-break-bingo/
NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
Roaring Readers is due March 13th-no late entries will be accepted. There is still plenty of time to log your minutes and earn your free pass to Roaring Springs!
NOTE FROM THE NURSE
Wow, it has been a slippery, slushy, wet few weeks! You may want to make sure your student has a change of clothes and/or shoes in their bag for weather like this or the mud for when this all melts. This would be helpful in case their clothes, socks/shoes get soaked or muddy during recess. I’m running out of socks especially for all these cute cold wet tootsies.
I hope you are all well, or at least recovering from the recent bout of illnesses. Thank you so much for your generous clothing donations. They are SO appreciated.
ATTENDANCE
If your child is absent for any reason, call the office at 208-365-0877 or email sbeattendance@isd221.net to excuse your child. Thank you for letting your child's teacher know but they do not always have the time to get the message to the front office.
If doctor appointments are necessary during the school day, please bring a doctor's note for our records.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES - called in by 2:30
- If there are changes on how your children will be going home at the end of the day, those changes must be called into the office at 208-365-0877 by 2:30pm. We cannot guarantee the change can happen after this time.
- If you need to check out your child during recess, we kindly request that you wait until the recess concludes or arrive before recess. This supports the safety of all students, as our duty staff can then focus on their designated supervision areas without any distractions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Pick up Procedures
When pulling up in the pick up line DO NOT exit the car, if your student needs extra help, park in the lot closest to the school. This is safest method for all students and keeps the traffic flowing and from gathering on Idaho Blvd.
We ask that parents not park in the staff parking that is located on the corner of Idaho and Mesa so students and parents are not crossing traffic and in between moving cars.
Thanks again for helping us keep our students safe!
SCHOOL LUNCH
If you haven’t yet filled out a Free/Reduced application, they are available on our website, online on Infinite Campus, or at the school office.
