š¾ Principalās Message: The Countdown is On!
7/30/26
Dear Westview Families,
Our campus is filled with excitement as we work hard to prepare for the return of our students on Wednesday, August 12!
Today, we welcomed our incoming sixth-grade students and their families to campus for Sixth Grade Orientation. We were thrilled to have more than 100 students and their families attendārepresenting over one-third of our incoming sixth-grade class! Their enthusiasm made it clear that our students and families are just as excited about the upcoming year as we are.
Yesterday, we also welcomed our newest teachers as they began New Teacher Orientation. Today, they joined district leaders for professional learning, and they will return to Westview next week. We are fortunate to have many experienced, talented, and highly skilled educators joining our Wildcat family this year.
Our returning teachers will report to campus on Monday, August 3, when our entire staff will come together for a day of planning and preparation. That day will be followed by many professional learning experiences designed to help us prepare for a strong and successful first day of school.

Schedule Changes - Deadline 8/20/26
Student Schedule Changes
Student schedules became available for families to view in Skyward on Monday, July 27. Families who would like to request a change may use the link below to submit a Schedule Change Request Form.
Submit a Schedule Change Request
Please remember that submitting a request does not guarantee that a schedule change can be made.
How Placements Were Determined
Our team carefully reviewed student schedules and made placement decisions based on each studentās demonstrated academic achievement and individual learning needs. These decisions were made to ensure that every student receives the appropriate level of challenge and the support needed to be successful.
We also reviewed schedules to ensure that student course placements align with all Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements.
Because these placements were made intentionally using student data, requests to move students between on-level and advanced core academic classes will generally not be approved.
Elective Requests
Many of our elective classes are currently full or nearing capacity. Although we will review all elective-change requests, some changes may not be possible because of class-size limitations.
Once your request is received and processed, your child's counselor will reach out to you to notify you if there were any issues with making the requested change.
Schedule-Change Deadline
The deadline for students and families to submit schedule-change requests is Thursday, August 20.
After August 20, requests will be considered only in exceptional circumstances and must be approved by the studentās assistant principal. Most requests received after the deadline will not be approved.
Beginning Monday, August 24, our goal is to have student schedules and class rosters stabilized. Limiting movement between classes allows teachers to build strong classroom communities, focus on instruction, and begin supporting the academic growth of the students in their classes.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to create schedules that best support every Wildcat.
8th Grade Students Interested in Being a Student Aide?
Student Aide Applications
Eighth grade students interested in serving as a student aide for one class period this year must complete an application and participate in the selection process. Student aides may have the opportunity to serve in the main office, library, or a classroom, depending on available placements and campus needs.
Serving as a student aide is a great opportunity for responsible students to support their school, develop leadership skills, and make a positive contribution to the Wildcat community. It is only available to 8th grade students.
Application Timeline
Wednesday, August 12
Student aide applications will be released on the first day of school.
Wednesday, August 19
Completed applications are due.
How Students Will Be Selected
Applications will be evaluated using a scoring rubric that considers:
- The studentās reason for wanting to serve as an aide
- Academic performance
- Attendance history
- Disciplinary history
All proposed student aide placements must also be approved by the studentās assistant principal. Applying does not guarantee that a student will be selected or placed.
Students who are dependable, responsible, and interested in serving their school community are encouraged to apply. Ms. Jo Patrick, our librarian, will coordinate the application and placement process. If you have any questions, please contact Jo.Patrick@pfisd.net.
š± Cell Phone Reminder
At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, beginning the first day of school, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.
To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:
OffenseConsequence
1st Offense - Device confiscated ā must be picked up by a parent or guardian.
2nd Offense - Device confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward).
3rd Offense - Device confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required.
Chronic Issues may result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.
š Go Wildcats ā focused and ready to learn!
Safety Protocols
Transportation Badge System
PfISD Transportation Department is using student IDs for students to access their bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.
All students will receive an ID badge no later than August 24th. Buses will accept students to ride the bus without their ID for the first two weeks of school.
When they have their badge, they will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mindānothing more, and nothing to worry about.
These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:
-
Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria
-
Check out books in the library
-
Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations
