Edison Newsletter!

EdisonNewsletter!

Dear Edison Family,

We have had a wonderful week filled with celebrations and special moments on our campus! We were proud to celebrate our Teacher of the Year, Naomi Quick, and our Employee of the Year, Leslie Ovalle. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, hard work, and the many contributions they make to Edison. We are so fortunate to have them on our team.

A big shout out also goes to our Students of the Month, Kenley Hughley and Alicia Gage. We are so proud of their hard work and positive examples. They truly help make Edison a better place for everyone.

This week, we also had the opportunity to celebrate our volunteers. We honored them at a luncheon at the administration building and again here on campus Friday. We are extremely thankful for our wonderful volunteers and PTO members who so generously give their time and energy to support our students and staff. We could not do all that we do without them.

In addition, our students enjoyed several fantastic field trips to the zoo this week! Pre‑K visited the Frank Buck Zoo, Kindergarten traveled to the world‑famous Dallas Zoo, and First Grade explored the world‑famous Fort Worth Zoo. These experiences are always a highlight for our students and provide meaningful, hands‑on learning opportunities.

Please continue to support our Bubble Run fundraiser. We are currently at $3,610 toward our $5,000 goal, and your support truly makes a difference. The funds raised from last year’s Bubble Run helped pay for the zoo field trips our students enjoyed this week. Please help us reach our goal by visiting mybooster.com and making a pledge.

Lastly, please note that there is an upcoming parent meeting at Chalmers on March 7th. Be sure to see the flyer below for additional details.

⭐ Character Lesson of the Month: Courage

Courage isn’t just about big, heroic moments—it shows up in small, everyday ways for our students. Courage is raising your hand when you’re unsure, trying something new, standing up for a friend, or keeping going when something feels hard.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Recurring reminders:

Traffic Reminder 🚗

To help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently, please turn right when exiting the school during arrival and dismissal. This small change will help reduce congestion and ensure a smoother transition for all families. Thank you for your cooperation!

Also, when crossing the street or high traffic areas, please make sure to be crossed by a crossing guard at the cross walk, thank you.

Reading and Writing at home: We do a great deal of reading and writing at school. Parents/Guardians, if you could help us out by helping your kiddos with their home work, also reading to them, and having them write something short and age appropriate (pre-k: trace some letters, Kinder: write a few short words, 1st grade: write a short sentence), would go a long way.

Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.

Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.

Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick. If they are sick please leave a doctors note with the front office.

School policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...

Transportation Changes: ALL Transportation changes must be made no later that 12pm. Any changes after that time cannot be made. Thank you,

Character Trait of the Month: Courage!

Courage isn’t just about big, heroic moments—it shows up in small, everyday ways for our students. Courage is raising your hand when you’re unsure, trying something new, standing up for a friend, or keeping going when something feels hard.

At school, we are helping students build courage by encouraging a growth mindset, celebrating effort, and reminding them that mistakes are part of learning. When children feel safe and supported, they are more willing to take positive risks and believe in themselves.

How families can support courage at home:

  • Encourage your child to try new things, even if they feel nervous
  • Praise effort, not just outcomes
  • Share your own examples of facing challenges
  • Remind them: “You can do hard things!”

Together, we can help our students grow into confident, resilient learners who are willing to take on challenges with bravery and heart.
