Dear Families,

I hope that you enjoyed the long holiday weekend and the summer weather that it brought with it. The forecast for the upcoming week looks very hot, and so it is a good time to remind everyone that the building does tend to get uncomfortable in June, especially on the second and third floors- where most of our classrooms are. Please be sure to dress your children in light fabrics, and send them with plenty of water. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful outdoor learning spaces, which will certainly get plenty of use this week to provide a reprieve from the heat in the building.

We have a lot of events happening over the next few weeks, beginning with our final family meetings of the year on Wednesday afternoon. Our school families have provided opportunities for students to get to know and work with students across grade levels, have helped students to build connections with new staff members, and have helped us to bring our school community a little closer in our first full "normal" year coming out of the pandemic. We will be celebrating our fourth graders who are moving up to Miscoe during our meetings, and I know the children in my school family will truly miss their older family members next year. Families remain intact throughout your child's Memorial journey, and as we graduate fourth graders, we will also add in 1-2 new kindergarten students each year. I am looking forward to our final family meetings of the year on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nipmuc senior class will be visiting Memorial as part of their district "Senior Walk" tour on Thursday ahead of their graduation. This is a staff and student favorite event as our teachers get to see former students, and our students get to see what the end of high school is like for our graduates. It is always a tearful and memorable day for our entire MURSD community, and we are so excited for it later this week.

Some dates to note as we head into the final few weeks of school!

June 5th: 4th grade Move-Up Day to Miscoe

June 8th: Memorial and Clough Chorus Concert at Nipmuc at 6:30pm

June 12th: Field Day and Fourth Grade Send Off

June 14th: MURSD District Inspired Learning Day

June 19th: No School- Juneteenth Holiday

June 20th: Last Day of School- Early Release Day

Have a wonderful week!

Warmly,

Wendy and Lauren
