September Principal Message
Greetings From PVMS
Dear PV Eagle Families:
September is an important time for students to establish positive routines and settle into the new school year. Regular attendance, arriving on time, completing assignments, and staying organized all contribute to a successful year. Thank you for partnering with us as we help our Eagles build strong habits and achieve their goals.
Open House Follow-Up
Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House last week. We are grateful for your participation and continued partnership in your child’s education. The staff appreciates meeting the parents of the students they teach, and I know you all like to put a face to the name of the teachers who teach your students.
MAP and IAR/ISA Reports
Students recently completed their fall MAP testing sessions. We are proud of the effort they demonstrated throughout the testing process. Fall 2026 MAP reports, along with IAR and ISA (6th grade only) reports from last spring, will be sent home with students in the next couple of weeks after we sort and copy all of the reports for our student files.
School Safety Drills
The safety of our students and staff remains one of our highest priorities. Prairie View will conduct several required safety drills over the next few weeks so everyone is familiar with the procedures to follow during an emergency. A Parent Square was sent out last week outlining the drills to be conducted over the next several weeks. We successfully completed our first practice fire drill yesterday, and our students and staff did an excellent job following directions.
Attendance Matters!
Regular and on-time attendance plays an essential role in student success. Each day at Prairie View provides valuable opportunities for students to learn, connect with their teachers and classmates, and remain on track academically.
We understand that illness and other circumstances may occasionally require a student to miss school. Whenever possible, we encourage families to prioritize daily attendance and punctuality. Even a few missed days can make it more difficult for students to keep pace with classroom learning.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are off to a wonderful start and look forward to a successful September filled with Good Vibes and Great Minds!
Sincerely,
Maura R. Baskovich
Principal

What Does Belonging Look Like in D140?
As we begin the school year, D140 is launching You Matter. We All Belong., a yearlong effort to strengthen the sense of belonging across our schools.
Throughout the year, you'll receive short monthly messages that focus on simple ways we can work together to help every child feel connected, valued, and supported.
Research consistently shows that students thrive when they know they belong. We appreciate your partnership in creating welcoming school communities where every student can succeed.
Together, we can make sure every child knows: You Matter. We All Belong.
