The Fowler Weekly
January 2-6
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Fowler Family,
Happy New Year! We hope you all found some time to relax a bit over the Holiday Season. As we jump into 2023, I wanted to provide a reminder that we will host another Coffee with the Principal this Friday, January 6th at 8:30 AM.
Students often come back from extended breaks with a lot of energy. We will focus some school time on reminding students of safe, respectful and responsible behavior, and any front loading parents can do on that front for us would be greatly appreciated.
One shoutout we do have is for Aaron Bech who was the December Staff Member of the Month and had a featured clip aired on Fox 12 News. Way to go Mr. Bech!
We look forward to a healthy and harmonious 2023.
Sincerely,
Andy
HAPPENINGS
We hope everyone had a safe, restful Winter Break! As we return to school on Tuesday, January 3, we are hoping that our students are ready to finish Semester 1 strong!
Winter ASA (After School Activities) will begin on Tuesday, January 17. Statistics prove that adolescents are more likely to feel connected to their school and perform better academically when participating in extracurricular activities. The Winter After School Activities include the following activities:
- Art Club
- Basketball
- Chess Club
- Dodgeball
- Fowler News Club
- Gaming Club
- Indoor Soccer
- Homework Help
- OBOB
- Volleyball
- Yoga
Encourage your student to get involved!
Printed forms will be available in the office beginning Tuesday. You may also download the form below and complete it. Students need to bring their completed forms to the office along with the money to get signed up. There ARE caps on some of the classes and we enroll the students who come with all forms complete first.
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) also begins this month. (See ASA Info above for details on signing up.) If your child would like to participate, please see our librarian, Mrs. Wolfe, and sign-up on the poster. We are looking for 3-4 parent volunteers to help lead book groups! If you are interested in volunteering on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15 p.m, please email Mrs. Roshak at eroshak@ttsd.k12.or.us.
We would like to remind everyone that school begins at 8:30am. Students are expected to be in their classes prior to the 8:30a.m. bell ringing. It is important that all students are in class, all day, every day. We understand that there are exceptions to students being able to attend school, when there is a legitimate reason for them to miss school, please be sure to call our 24 hour Bilingual Attendance Line (503)431-5021 and leave a message. You can do so any time of day or night.
In addition, we would like to remind parents that drop off their students in the morning, or pick them up in the afternoon, that the parking lot in front of the school is CLOSED from 8-8:45am, and 2:45-3pm for student safety and in order for our buses to the have access they need. Please use the Walnut Street entrance and tennis court lot to drop-off your student or pick-up your student.
