UPDATED: AP Exam Registration is Open Now

Registration for AP exams is open until Monday, November 2nd. Please see the images above for the links to register and pay for the exams, as well as the specific exam codes.

  • What is an AP exam? Advanced Placement (AP) exams are standardized exams administered by the College Board at the end of the school year. They assess students’ learning in a particular subject and are generally taken in May.

  • Who takes AP exams? Students typically take an AP exam after completing the corresponding AP course. AP courses offer college-level learning while students are in high school. Students do not necessarily have to take an exam simply because they are enrolled in an AP course.

  • Is there one exam per AP class? Each AP subject has its own exam, so a student enrolled in AP Biology would typically take the AP Biology exam, and a student enrolled in AP U.S. History would take the AP U.S. History exam. Students taking multiple AP courses may choose to take multiple exams. The registration codes identify the specific course or exam section students need to join or register for.

  • What happens with the results? AP exams are scored on a scale of 1–5. Many colleges and universities offer college credit, advanced placement, or both for qualifying scores, although policies and required scores vary by institution. Students should check the policies of colleges they are considering. AP scores can also help students reflect on their readiness for college-level work.

  • What do the exams cost? At Franklin, the current fee categories are:

    • $0: Students who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.

    • $45: Students who qualify for a reduced fee based on financial need.

    • $90: Full price per exam.

Students and families who are unsure whether the $0 fee applies to them should contact the school for clarification. Eligibility for reduced exam fees is determined on an honor system.

The Franklin Community Pantry is Open

Did you know that Franklin has a food pantry that is open to everyone in the school community? And that you can request a weekly box of food delivered to you?

Franklin’s Community Pantry is opening for the school year the week of October 12th in a new location, Room M-137. The pantry is a partnership between a group of Franklin staff and Franklin 4 Families, a parent organization with support from NHS students. Pantry deliveries will be every Wednesday and open shopping hours are Thursdays from 3:00-4:15pm. The pantry depends on the support of Franklin families, either financial donations or donations of food.

  • Do You Need Food? Fill out the form linked here to request a food delivery or come to the pantry Thursdays between 3:00-4:15
  • Do You Want to Support the Pantry? Our biggest need is for donations of money through SchoolPay to purchase produce and proteins, our most requested items. Click here to access our SchoolPay donation portal. If you are able, consider donating monthly! Other ways to help are to donate non-expired food from our donation list or volunteer in the pantry.
  • Do You Have Questions About the Pantry? Contact Ellen Pederson, Franklin Librarian, at epederson@pps.net.
  • Do You Want to Know More About Volunteering? Check out our Sign-Up or email bronwynnb@gmail.com!
