Attendance Makes a Difference!
Dear Families,
The school year is off to a great start. The new year also often brings different colds and illnesses.
Francestown Elementary School believes regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic progress and overall development. Consistent attendance ensures that students remain engaged in classroom activities, keep up with the curriculum, and foster positive relationships with peers and teachers. Every day missed or shortened represents a lost opportunity for learning and growth. Please reference the ConVal School District Policy JH-R.
While we understand that occasional absences due to illness or unavoidable circumstances are inevitable, we urge you to consider the impact of extended family vacations on your child's attendance. Extended absences disrupt the continuity of learning and may put your child at a disadvantage in terms of academic achievement and social integration. When a child is tardy or dismissed early they miss the opportunity to build relationships with teachers and peers and important educational experiences. There is no replacement for the learning that takes place daily in the classroom.
If your child is going to be absent make sure to either enter it into PickUp Patrol or email Jen at jmackay@conval.edu. Please inform us for the reason for the absence.
If any underlying issues or concerns contribute to your child's attendance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to support you and your child in any way we can to ensure their success in school.
Warmly,
Rachel Lunan-Hill
Principal, Francestown Elementary School
Welcome to Kindergarten with Ms. Curley!
Learning Through Exploration
This week we celebrated Dot Day on Monday. Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration. Students listened to the story The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds before getting the chance to show off their creativity!
First and Second Grade with Ms. Sanchez
Everybody loves tacos!
We had another great week in 1/2. We continued to practice routines and procedures and we also continued our centers in both Math and Literacy. Students have done a nice job settling back into all routines. We also had a Cornucopia session this week where we got to look for different bugs in the garden and make/eat salad “tacos”. We have also been working extra hard at being bucket fillers and not bucket dippers, as well as being responsible to show the ‘I’ in P.R.I.D.E.
Ms. Parisi's Third and Fourth Graders!
What a Great Week!
Ms. Parisi's class created mini plays this week to represent different ways to regulate ourselves when we are in the yellow and blue zone! Students thought about how to work together as a team so that everyone can learn and grow. Students were very creative with the scenarios that they came up with.
Health and Wellness with Mr. LeGraw
I’m excited to have joined the school community as the new PE and Health teacher! This week, it was great meeting all the students, and we had a fantastic time working on our underhand throwing skills. The kids enjoyed learning through fun and interactive games, showing great effort and enthusiasm!
Thank You,
Trey LeGraw

Class Rules and Student Voice
At Francestown Elementary, we believe in the power of student voice. Each student helps shape their classroom’s rules and expectations. We start by writing our Hopes and Dreams for the year, thinking about what we need in the classroom to achieve those goals. Students then brainstorm and categorize possible rules, which are refined into a positive, unified class contract. Finally, everyone signs the contract, which is proudly displayed in the classroom.
