A Trip Down Goshen Lane
Issue 18: Dec. 5, 2025
Principal's Message
Hello, Families,
Let's Go!
We are so proud of our amazing Girls on the Run participants, pictured above. These dedicated hard workers trained all school year together and ran a 5K (3.1 miles) at the GOTR race. This after school club was open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Girls on the Run empowers our students to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and make healthy choices through fun, interactive lessons and physical activity. The curriculum helps girls strengthen their social-emotional skills while celebrating what makes them unique. When I asked some girls at their end of season celebration why those chose to sign up, one girl said, "I learned about what it was and knew I just had to do it." Another responded, "Sometimes I was feeling down and lonely, and all of that changed when I joined the group." Co-Advisor, 4th grade teacher Ashley Thomas, has some shout outs to give as well. "Thank you to Mrs. Aldrich and Mrs. Anderson for attending the Girls on the Run 5K! The girls were so thankful for your support. After the race they kept yelling, "We saw Mrs. Aldrich cheering for us!!!" and "Mrs. Anderson was running the race!" Thank you again for supporting our students in the classroom and outside!"
Thank you to Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Obey, Ms. Fisher and Mrs. Stifler for their weekly support. ...Way to crush it, ladies!
Adjusted School Schedules
It's that time of year when weather might affect the school day. If school is canceled or there is a 2 Hour Delay, you will receive a message from the school district early in the morning before school starts. This comes as a text, an email, and/or a phone call and voicemail. The kinds of messages you receive depend on what you chose in your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. You can also check the Gahanna-Jefferson Facebook page, the Goshen Lane PTA Facebook page, and news station apps and websites.
Important 2 Hour Delay Details:
-There is no breakfast served at school.
-Buses pick up 2 hours after their normal time.
-9:45 Car drop off may begin
-9:55 All students may enter the school
-10:05 School begins
This Week's Question Around the Dinner Table:
- What’s a goal you have for tomorrow?
- What do you do when things feel challenging or if you feel stuck?
Have a great weekend,
Sharon Suriano

Student Leadership
A special shout out to 4th graders Richlynn and Ebunoluwa for organizing the Goshen Lane GRIN Food Drive! We are so proud of these ladies' display of leadership and care for their community. Incredible! Gahanna is better because of you. And thank you do all who donated to make this possible.
Front Office Details
The front office is a busy place at the start and end of the school day.
Beginning of Day Details
- Tardy - After 8:05 - Park, walk students in, sign in. For safety reasons, please walk students in rather than drop students off to walk in by themselves after 8:05. Other vehicles like buses are also moving in the drop off area. It is not safe for students to walk across the driveway by themselves. If you arrive by 8:05, students are on time and cars should pull to the back of the building for drop off.
End of Day Details
- Transportation Changes - We ask that parents call before 1:30 p.m. to make transportation changes. Please make sure students know your plan of pick up before they come to school and that you have communicated that to the teacher and/or the front office.
- Early Dismissal - We ask that if a student needs to leave early, parents please pick up in person through the front office by 2:00. At 2:00, the office will be closed for visitors to ensure we are able to focus on end of day details happening in the office and in classrooms. Please pick up for doctor appointments, etc, before 2:00 or in the car pickup line at 2:45.
