Monterey Homecoming is Friday, September 13th. Miller students are invited to participate in MHS spirit dress up days on September 9th-September 13th. Go Plainsmen!

Is your 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader interested in running for the Miller Student Council? Information and permission slips can be picked up from outside Mrs. Fitzgerald's room (Room 2022). Posters and permission slips are due by Wednesday, September 11th. Elections and speeches will be held Friday, September 13th.

We are excited to kick-off several of our after school clubs in September! Information and sign-ups for each club have been or will be sent home with interested students. Space is limited for some activities. Please see start dates, times, and contact information below!

Dance Connect: Mondays @ 3:30-4:45; 3rd-5th Grade (regan.randolph@lubbockisd.org)

Students are allowed to purchase extra items from the "a la carte" menu on the following days. Items include ice cream, chips, etc.

Parents can add money to their child's lunch account by creating an account in My School Bucks.

Front Drive Thru Drop Off:

• Always pull up as far as you can towards the yellow speed bump/crossing guard towards the end of the drive-thru lane.
• If using the inside lane, please pull up along the curb. Your child should exit on the curb side if possible.
• If using the outside lane, children need to walk towards the yellow speed bump/crossing guard to cross. Do not allow students to exit the vehicle at the first crosswalk.
• Do not exit your vehicle in the drive thru lane. If you need to exit, please park in the street and walk your child to the door or to the crosswalk.

East Side Drop Off

• Stop in front of the yellow speed bump.
• Talk to your child about waiting for the crossing guard to signal them that it is safe to cross.
• Be aware of pedestrians crossing the drive thru lane.
• Do not exit your vehicle in the drive thru lane. If you need to exit, please park in the street and walk your child to the door or to the crosswalk.

Cell phone use is PROHIBITED in a school zone!

Lubbock ISD runs an open referral window for Gifted and Talented Identification. Parents, teachers, and/or community members can refer students for identification. The window to refer students in grades 1-12 is now open. All referred students must undergo the complete GT assessment process. ***Kindergarten will not test until the spring semester.***

Additionally, ALL students in grade 2 will take the GNAT universal screener to measure reasoning abilities in order to find students potentially requiring gifted/talented services.

Lubbock ISD has launched a two-way messaging and communication feature within the LISD app called Rooms. Rooms allows parents to access important information about the happenings in our district, on our campus, and in your child's classroom. Please follow the steps below to get signed up for Rooms.

1. Download the latest Lubbock ISD app. Make sure it is the one that matches the picture shown here.

2. If you are new to the app, click on the Menu button on the bottom. Select Miller and any other schools you would like to follow and click the + sign to add them to your organizations.

3. On the bottom right, click on Rooms and use your cell phone number to sign up for Rooms. Step by step instructions can be found HERE.

Our Miller Owls have spent the first days of school learning and reviewing our WISE Expectations. We teach students about what it looks like and sounds like to be WISE in all areas of school including the classrooms, the hallways, and the cafeteria. Students who are seen demonstrating WISE expectations earn "badge signs," WISE tickets, and Hoot Yeah calls home! When a student fills up his/her WISE badge, they get to visit the WISE Prize Cart. The WISE Prize Cart is open every two weeks! Ask your Owl if they can tell you what it means to be WISE! 🦉🦉🦉
