Be a Sloth Friend

2nd graders learned key characteristics of being a good friend to one another in 2nd grade. Students were paired up with a partner and practiced sharing, listening, opening up, taking turns, and helping each other. Students asked each other two questions: "What is your favorite color?" and "What is your favorite thing to do at recess?". Students designed and colored their own friendship sloth with a craft sick with their partner friend, then ended with sloth breathing. The beginning of the school year is a great time to make a new friend and feel a sense of belonging (our SEL Theme for October). Great job 2nd graders!

A buddy bench or a friendship bench is a seat on our playground where students can go when they want someone to talk to or play with. Kids become aware of how others or themselves are feeling, and can offer a simple act of kindness.
