Madison Middle School

We have an exciting week ahead with our first Spirit Week and the Welcome to the Wild West Back-to-School Dance! Even if your student isn’t into dancing, it’s still a party—there will be food, games, and plenty of time to relax and have fun with friends.

Looking ahead, we also want to highlight several upcoming parent engagement opportunities: Parent Tech Club, School Site Council (SSC), English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), and our Gang Awareness Community Forum.

Thank you for reading! We remain committed to supporting you and your students, and we thank you for partnering with us to help all Madison students grow and succeed.

Madison’s Broadcasting Company (MBC), led by Mr. Hertz and Ms. Bronson, is once again bringing our school culture to life through informative and entertaining live broadcasts. This project-based learning class gives students hands-on experience with the real workings of a television station while building teamwork and responsibility. Check out behind-the-scenes photos and last Friday’s broadcast below!

Join us for an important community forum on gang awareness. We will be joined by Oceanside Council member Jimmy Figueroa, Professor Martin Leyva, members of Project Resilience, and representatives from the Oceanside Police Department.

They will share valuable information, resources, and strategies to help keep our neighborhood, school, and students safe.

Every public school has a school site council (SSC); it is an elected group of parents, staff, and community members that uses school data to guide, fund, and monitor the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to support all students’ academic success.

While this is a public meeting that anyone can attend, please join me in warmly welcoming and thanking this year’s elected SSC parent and staff members—Xiomara Arnett, Cary Carr, Shannon Hartley, Maria Jimenez, Betsey Mahn, Priscilla Medez, Stephanie Pantoja, Tammy Payton, Rebecca Reed, Heather Varites, and Kaylee Winterstrom—for their dedication to supporting Madison students and school programs.

Our first meeting is this Tuesday, September 16 in the library from 4pm to 5pm. Join us!

Please email me at thomasberger@vistausd.org with your interest or any questions. Thank you!

Parents, please join us for our first ELAC meeting on Tuesday, September 24th, from 6:00–7:00 PM in the library.
