From Costumes to Clocks… and a Little Book Fair Magic! 🎃📚⏰

Dear Sippican Families,

Well, we made it through Halloween! Hopefully, the costumes have been put away, the candy has been sorted (and maybe sampled a few too many times), and everyone has recovered from a fun-filled week of spooky celebrations! And just when we thought we could catch our breath, Daylight Saving Time gave us an extra hour! Of course, anyone with young children knows that an extra hour of sleep sounds much better in theory than it actually works out!

As we trade our ghosts and goblins for a brand-new month, November brings plenty to look forward to at Sippican School!

This week, we're excited to welcome our Book Fair! There's something special about watching children explore shelves of books, discover new stories, and get excited about reading. We hope our students find something that sparks their imagination and maybe even inspires a little extra reading at home! We also welcome family volunteers who would like to help make the Book Fair a success. You'll find a volunteer sign-up link further along in this newsletter. We appreciate everyone who can lend a hand!

A quick calendar reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 3rd, as it is Election Day. While our students enjoy a day off, our teachers will be participating in professional development, continuing their work to make Sippican an even better place to learn and grow.

As we head into November, we want to thank our families for the energy, enthusiasm, and support you bring to our school community. October certainly kept us on our toes, but it also reminded us just how much fun it is to be part of Sippican!

Enjoy that leftover Halloween candy (we promise not to judge!), remember to reset any clocks that haven't changed themselves, and here's to a wonderful week ahead!

Warmly,

Lynn Dessert, Principal
Greg Thomas, Assistant Principal

Sixth Graders Putting the Pieces Together! Sixth Graders Putting the Pieces Together!

Our sixth graders have been busy exploring realistic fiction and learning to identify first- and third-person points of view using evidence from the text. Students are also developing a love of reading through independent silent reading time. When their work is complete, they enjoy tackling jigsaw puzzles, which offer much more than just fun! These activities strengthen problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, teamwork, patience, and perseverance. Whether they're diving into a great book or putting together a challenging puzzle, our sixth graders are building important skills for success both inside and outside the classroom!

Dear School Community,

This school year parents and caregivers will have the option to secure an insurance policy through School Device Coverage (SDC) to protect their student's school issued Chromebook for $25. The decision to enroll in the program is voluntary and at your discretion.

If enrolled, this insurance program can protect your student's Chromebook in the event that it is lost, stolen, or damaged accidentally. This policy allows you to file a claim against any number of incidents that may take place with no deductibles, no added fees, and no claims limits.

To obtain coverage, please apply online here or print the attached form and return it to the school.

If you have any questions or require additional information - please contact SDC at 888-978-3515.

Partnering for Your Child's Success Partnering for Your Child's Success

We want to reinforce our commitment to open and effective communication with all of our families. When a concern or question arises, the best first step is always to contact your child's classroom teacher or the specialist who works with your child.

Our teachers are the most knowledgeable about what is happening in their classrooms and are best equipped to address your concerns directly.

If, after speaking with the teacher, you feel the issue is not resolved or you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to the school administration. This approach helps us work together efficiently to support your child.

Thank you for your partnership as we all work to make this a successful year for our students!
