5th Grade Parent Announcements
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for our Rising 6th Grade Parent Night on 3/4. Please see THESE slides if you were unable to attend and mark your calendars for our BHMS PTA Spring Into 6th Grade Event coming up on Friday, April 24th from 4:30-6:00 pm. Join us for some food, fun, and music to learn more about Beacon Hill!
As a reminder, your 5th graders will be visiting BHMS in just two short weeks. There will also be an opportunity for parents to join their new 6th graders at our 6th grade Meet and Greet event prior to the first day of school (be on the lookout for the exact date to be announced by the district).
Still have questions? Reach out to Ms. Hudson or Mr. Jordon, BHMS Counselors (rhudson@csdecatur.net or jordon.muse@csdecatur.net) and/or our 6th grade Assistant Principal, Sarah Coleman (scoleman@csdecatur.net).
We look forward to welcoming you,
BHMS Bulldogs

Author Visit 📚 Orders Due APRIL 15!
Talley is so excited to welcome author Philip Stead on May 1, 2026! He will be coming to talk to us about his buzz-worthy new release, A Potion, a Powder, a Little Bit of Magic. His visit is sponsored by Little Shop of Stories and the Decatur Children's Book Festival which will take place that weekend.
Book orders are due April 15! This is a beautiful book that would make an incredible gift. Forms went home this week, and the link is included below if the paper didn't make it to you. Students can pay by cash or check made out to Talley. 20% of sales support the Talley library. Thank you in advance for your support! Please contact Mrs. Long (along@csdecatur.net) with any questions.
Special Collections - Beverage Bottles
Our collection for Plastic Beverage Bottles continues through mid-April. (Talley is competing against other local area schools as part of LiveThrive's Kids Day celebration.) The three houses that bring in the most bottles on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15 will earn house points. (Please note the date change.) All bottles should be rinsed and dry.
Plastic Film Pick Up for 2026-2027
Do you like having plastic film collection at school? Help us continue to earn free pick-ups for the 2026-2027 school year by recruiting families for our Ridwell membership drive. All we need is 10 families to sign up for home pick-up service or mail-in service (new this year!) by May 22 through our Talley sign-up link: https://get.ridwell.com/talley. We appreciate your support!
NOTE: Our next plastic film collection for house points will be Wednesday, April 22.
Earth Day Resources
Celebrated annually on April 22, Earth Day is a global initiative to raise awareness about pollution, waste, and the need for environmental conservation and sustainability. The Talley Green Team website features facts about Earth Day, information on local Earth Day celebrations, and a variety of resources for family engagement. Talley students are encouraged to play our "Earth Day BINGO" for house points and prizes. Completed boards and all recycled items must be turned into Mrs. Roberts by Thursday, April 30.
Recycle with Care
Lots of misconceptions exist about what can be recycled and how it should be done. Rules actually vary by municipality. (See City of Decatur recycling guidelines here.) Improve your recycling efforts by avoiding some common recycling myths.
THANK YOU to all of our TigerFest volunteers! Our community had a blast, and we exceeded our fundraising goals. We couldn't have done it without you!
Join us tomorrow, Friday, April 3rd for Walk & Roll! We are still looking for volunteers to pass out marbles to bus riders tomorrow morning and on May 1st. Sign up here to join the fun and help the bus riders participate! We greatly appreciate it if you can help!
