Redistricting: Restarting & Refocusing for a Long-Term Solution
Hello West Seneca Families,
In a previous communication, we informed you that the Board of Education would like to resume the Redistricting process that was paused last year in hopes of arriving at a set of thoughtful recommendations to take on these challenges as part of a long-term plan.
This timeline calls for the Board to consider recommendations by the end of the 2024-25 school year for implementation in phases beginning no earlier than September 2026.
A critical first step in making our work transparent will be to help build clarity around the “why” of redistricting, This will require clarifying the issues that make this work so necessary and establishing clear priorities to serve as the basis of long-range decision making.
From there, we pledge to keep you informed throughout the process and offer regular opportunities to provide feedback to help guide our process.
Today, we write you to provide transparency as to what work was initiated at our first "Redistricting Committee Meeting". The following sections will walk you through the agenda, meeting minutes and also provide you with links you can revisit for more information.
Thank you for your time.
Redistricting Committee Meeting - 10/17/2024
The Redistricting Committee had their first meeting on 10/17/24.
Below you will find the buttons that link you to the meeting agenda, the presentation that was used during the meeting, as well as the meeting minutes. We will be sending these out after every committee meeting. You can also find them on the Redistricting portion of our website.
Questions?
We encourage your questions* regarding redistricting and would like to start building a FAQ on our website that is updated as questions come to us during the course of our redistricting process. As such, we have designated a district email address for you to send those to. We will not be answering those questions via email, they will be posed and answered on our FAQ. (We welcome constructive feedback to the following email as well.)
