OAE OFSTED OAE OFSTED

They came, they observed and they went!

We welcomed a group of Ofsted Inspectors this week, and were pleased to show them what a wonderful school community we are building again at OAE. The Inspectors were blown away by the conduct of the young people who attend this academy. They showed how respectful and well mannered they are, meeting our community expectations of safe, kind and responsible throughout. They were able to articulate themselves expertly to all adults who spoke to them. We were beyond proud of them.

Once we have the final report from the inspection, we will share with you but for now thank you for your ongoing community support on our journey to greatness.

Holocaust Memorial Day Assemblies

On Monday, 24th January, we held special assemblies at Oasis Academy Enfield to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. This important occasion allowed our students to reflect on the atrocities of the Holocaust, the impact of prejudice and discrimination, and the importance of standing up against hatred in all its forms.

Through powerful stories and moments of reflection, students were encouraged to consider how they can contribute to building a more inclusive and compassionate society.

We are proud of our students for their engagement and the respect they demonstrated during these assemblies. As a school, we remain committed to educating our young people about history and the values of tolerance, empathy, and justice.

Chinese New Year Celebrations at OAE

On Wednesday, 29th January, we celebrated Chinese New Year at Oasis Academy Enfield with a range of exciting activities. Students and staff joined in the festivities by wearing something red, a colour symbolising good luck and prosperity in Chinese culture.

During form time, students explored the significance of Chinese New Year, learning about traditions and customs. They also had the opportunity to write their names in Chinese, embracing a new cultural experience.

To mark the occasion, our canteen offered a special Chinese-themed menu, giving students a taste of traditional dishes and adding to the festive atmosphere.

As part of our ongoing celebrations, on Monday, 10th February, Miss Silva will be taking a group of students to Chinatown, where they will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, explore traditional decorations, visit cultural landmarks, and enjoy authentic cuisine.

It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate this important cultural event.

Curriculum Insight- Drama Curriculum Insight- Drama

This term in the Drama and Performing Arts Department, it’s all about rehearsals and performances! Our Year 7 students are diving into the world of physical theatre with a spooky play called “Darkwood Manor.” They’ll be working in groups to devise their scenes and will have four rehearsal lessons before their big performance.

Year 8 is bringing Shakespeare to life with “Romeo and Juliet.” Each class is studying a different part of the play, and at the end of the term, all classes will come together in the theatre for a read-through performance. It’s a fantastic opportunity for them to experience the magic of this timeless classic.

Our Year 9 students are preparing to take their options next term. They’re exploring their creative abilities in acting, singing, and dancing, and will be given an assignment from the Year 10 BTEC syllabus to see if it’s the right fit for them. It’s an exciting time for them to discover their inner artist!

In the 6th form, it’s all hands on deck as they prepare for several performances. The highlight is their rendition of “Hamilton,” which will be touring primary schools after half-term in a mobile, compact version. They’ll also be auditioning and rehearsing for the end-of-year production. We can’t wait to see their hard work pay off!

We also offer enrichment for drama in Year 7 and all years on Thursdays, where students are studying ballet, contemporary dance, and devising their own work. We look forward to inviting parents to see “Hamilton” in the summer, with publicity to be presented after the Easter break.

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic new opportunity for our Year 11 students! Oasis Academy Enfield has partnered with Sarah from Navigating Careers to provide personalised career advice and one-to-one guidance interviews. Sarah brings a wealth of experience in careers advice and is dedicated to helping young people explore their options, develop their goals, and take the next steps toward a bright future.

The one-to-one interviews will focus on each student’s unique strengths, interests, and aspirations, helping them make informed decisions about further education, apprenticeships, or career opportunities. Whether students are considering university, vocational pathways, or exploring their skills and talents, this support will empower them to feel confident in their choices.

To complement this, we are also excited to unveil our brand-new Careers and Guidance Room! This space has been specially designed to provide a welcoming and inspiring environment where students can access resources, hold their guidance meetings, and explore a wide range of career pathways.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to preparing students for life beyond school and helping them achieve their full potential. If you would like more information or have any questions about this exciting new development, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Alaya.

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield

Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.

  • A passion to include
  • A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
  • A commitment to healthy, open relationships
  • A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
  • A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul

It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.

We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.

9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield 9 Habits at Oasis Academy Enfield

To help us in this process of personal growth and development we have the Oasis 9 Habits. It is our bespoke and unique approach to character development. We know that by living the way of the Habits, the Oasis Ethos will become second nature to us.
