At Evergreen we emphasize the importance of our PBIS expectations of Ready, Respectful, and Responsible behaviors in all environments throughout the school. This year through our Golden Spatula program we are reinforcing these positive choices in the cafeteria. Our students were very excited to learn of our very first Golden Spatula Winners ever at Evergreen at 2:50 today when Mrs. Stankus' 4th grade class made the announcement.

RSVP for the Popsicle Social
Evergreen Elementary Home & School is hosting their annual back-to-school Popsicle Social and we would love to see you there! This is a free event.
Please join us on Friday, September 22nd from 5:00-6:30 on the playground. This is always a fun event for the students to get to see all their new friends outside of the school day!
All children must be accompanied by an adult. Students may not be dropped-off without adult supervision.

September 21st: Grades 1-5 Meet the Teacher Night
Evergreen Elementary is pleased to invite you to Meet the Teacher Night. The program is scheduled for grade levels 1st through 5th on Thursday, September 21, 2023 (*Kindergarten parents met with Kindergarten teachers on August 21st).
All 1st through 5th grade teachers will offer THREE (3) in person/onsite sessions at Evergreen. Fifth grade teachers will offer sessions with both math and homeroom teachers. We also invite families to visit our special area teachers and service providers. For the Meet the Teacher Night Schedule, please see below.
Please note that this event is intended for parents/guardians only. Please note that the purpose of this evening is to help parents gain a stronger understanding of grade level curriculum and the classroom community. Meet the Teacher Night is not a venue for conferences regarding your child’s progress. Parent/teacher conferences will be held in November. Conference sign ups will occur at a later date.

Tail Waggin' Tutors
The Evergreen Library is excited to announce that we will be again offering a special opportunity for students to participate in... "Tail Waggin' Tutors" certified through Therapy Dog International (TDI). This program is designed to help students reduce stress and celebrate reading while improving reading skills by interacting with trained registered therapy dogs while at school.
Handlers and their dogs will work with small groups of students whose parents or legal guardians have given their written authorization for their participation in the program, during school hours for approximately 15 minutes. There is no charge for this program. The therapy dogs and their handlers are fully insured and have undergone extensive training to participate in animal-assisted therapy through Therapy Dog International.
Your permission will allow your child to have the opportunity to read with the dogs. Students who have parental permission will be notified ahead of time of when they will be participating. Please be mindful of your child's pet allergies and/or fears when giving permission. Depending on the number of those who sign up we are hoping to get everyone at least one visit this year, hopefully more.

Safety Information
It is important that students learn how to be safe. During the first weeks of school classrooms will discuss and review our various safety protocols. Then, during the weeks of September 18th and September 25th we will hold our "Safety Weeks" where we will practice the different Standard Response Protocols including the Hold, Secure, Shelter, Lockdown, and Evacuate safety drills. Student friendly and age-appropriate language is used.

Substitute Food Service Assistants Needed
The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking qualified, flexible applicants to work in our schools as Substitute Food Service Assistants. Assignments are generally 4.5-6 hours per day. Previous food service experience is welcomed but not required. The starting hourly rate is $14.00, without benefits.
