Happy July Gooding! As the 4th of July quickly approaches and fireworks stands are open, I would like to remind everyone of the importance of fire safety. Never set off fireworks around dry vegetation, on little spark from fireworks can make a big fire in no time. Have a garden hose or a water source close by, also be sure to spray down or put all fireworks in water after they have been used. But most of all, have a very happy and safe holiday!
Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello, Gooding!
We are certainly having a busy year in Gooding. With road construction projects underway and new sewer lines being installed, it can feel like a daily challenge figuring out which streets are open and which route to take. Adding to the excitement, the railroad crossings on the north end of town will be repaired this weekend, so residents traveling to or from north Gooding will need to plan for alternate routes.
Construction on Main Street is also scheduled to begin in July. We appreciate your patience as these important improvements are completed. The inconvenience will be temporary, but the benefits to our community will last for years to come.
We would also like to invite you to an open house with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) on July 13 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. ITD representatives will provide information about the upcoming Main Street project, including roadway improvements, sidewalks, and ADA-accessible corner upgrades. If you have questions, concerns, or comments, please stop by and share your thoughts with City staff and ITD.
The city has also distributed an informational flyer outlining the various road projects currently taking place throughout Gooding. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as construction progresses. Most projects are expected to be completed by late August or early September.
As we celebrate our nationβs 250th anniversary, there will be a fantastic fireworks display and many special events happening throughout the Magic Valley. Watch for the America 250 Celebration signs and take advantage of the opportunities to join in the festivities with family and friends.
We hope you have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable Fourth of July. If you choose to use fireworks, please do so responsibly and safely.
Stay safe, and have a wonderful and blessed Fourth of July!
Diane Houser Mayor
