Quarterly School Counseling Information
Approximately 80% of K5 school counseling supports are referred to as tier 1 interventions. These are universal interventions that all Quest students receive. These interventions are commonly referred to as classroom social-emotional learning lessons (SEL). K5 SEL thus far this school year have focused on the following:
Emotional regulation
Norms’ versus rules
Empathy
Managing friendships
Equal versus fair
Process versus outcome
Executive functioning skills development
Conflict resolution
Tier 2 interventions come in the form of targeted data-driven small group interventions such as:
Grade level lunch support groups
Grade level small group conflict resolution
Targeted small groups addressing specific identified student needs
Tier 3 interventions are individualized student interventions that address short-term and solution-focused counseling and crisis-response events.
Individual counseling that addresses school related concerns, and life changing events such as divorce, death, etc.
Referrals to outside agencies (Aurora Mental Health, Judi’s House, Juvenile Assessment Center)
Risk Assessments
***Please consider attending the Quest Parent Coffee on October 30th from 8AM-10AM. Among things discussed, we will specifically focus on tier 1 classroom lessons, digging into content that is transferable from school to home. There will also be time for Q&A.
Parent / Guardian Coffee
After receiving numerous requests from parents interested in attending the Fathers Only Coffee session, we have decided to extend the invitation to all Parents and Guardians. To help us prepare adequately, we kindly ask that you let us know how many parents and guardians plan to attend. This information will assist us in ensuring we have enough seating, coffee, and snacks for everyone. Please, Click here to sign up. There is a link available in the Signup for the Agenda.

Quest Annual Costume Parade
Halloween is in the air. Students are already gearing up for Trick-or-Treating. To celebrate at Quest, we will be participating in our Annual Quest Halloween Costume Parade on Thursday, October 30th at 1:45 PM. Students will be allowed to dress up in costumes that adhere to the following guidelines:
- Students should wear their costumes to school and be prepared to wear them all day.
- Costumes should not distract from learning, either your child’s or another’s.
- No Halloween masks may be worn.
- No face paint.
- No costumes with sound effects, lights or other components that may disrupt the learning environment.
- Costumes should be modest, tasteful and appropriate for a school environment.
- Costumes must permit students to sit and participate in the learning process for the day.
- Students with P.E. should wear or bring shoes that are safe for P.E. activities.
- Because we have younger students on our campus, we ask that scary characters not be part of the day (Scream, Chuckie, Jason, etc.)
- Toy or facsimile weapons are not allowed. (swords, guns, knives, etc)
- Students whose costumes do not meet the standards will be asked to call home for a change of clothing.
At 1:45 PM, Quest Kindergarten students will begin leading the annual Quest K-5 Halloween parade outside (weather permitting). Parents are welcome to attend by lining up along the sidewalk in front of the school to see all of our ghosts and goblins. While we anticipate that this will be a quick parade, we are at the mercy of small feet walking.
For any student not able to participate due to religious beliefs or parent preference, we will have supervision on the playground during the parade. If parents do not want their child to participate, they should communicate this with their child's homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
For Your Information...

How to Volunteer
Our parent volunteers are our rock and help us navigate through the school year with less stress. If you are interested in volunteering, here is how to get your badge and clearance.
We will be asking parents to get their volunteer badges to be chaperones during field trips.
STEP 1: Complete the Screening Process (Background Check). Click Here to be directed to the Aurora Public Schools' website for the screening process.
STEP 2: Fill out the Volunteer form for Mr. Adams, our Family Liaison. He will reach out to you so you can send him a picture of your valid driver's license (front only) and a picture of yourself with a plain background for your badge. Mr. Adams will submit the "Volunteer Approval Form" with both pictures to the Safety & Security Department.
Your volunteer badge will be sent to the school and you will be informed so that you can pick it up once approval from the Safety & Security Department goes through.
.
