Dear Timberwolf Families,

KFL&A Public Health uses predetermined temperature and wind chill values to inform the community when the weather could be harmful. The Cold Weather Response Plan is designed to reduce the health impacts and risks associated with extreme cold weather events. It includes: monitoring Environment Canada's weather forecasts between November 1 and April 1, and notifying the community when extreme cold temperatures and values are reached. Sometimes, the cold weather requires schools to keep students indoors for recess. Generally, if the temperature is forecast to be -25C or -28C with the windchill, children are kept inside. We will be following the guidelines above with respect to when students will be kept indoors. Please make sure that you send your child in appropriate winter clothing on cold weather days as they will be outside for fresh air when it is safe to do so.

The Truedell School Community is busy planning events for our Literacy Week (January 27th to January 31st). We are bringing the Book Exchange back for the second year. Students will have the opportunity to bring in a used book from home and exchange it for another book. The school will ensure that every child has an opportunity to choose a book to take home. This activity is an excellent opportunity to receive a book and also reinforce the importance of reusing items as environmental stewards.

Steps for the Book Exchange:

1. Have your child bring in a book for the book exchange on January 28th, 2025 and hand it in to their teacher.

2. Book collection will be from Tuesday, January 14th to Friday, January 24th. Please make sure the book is in good condition and appropriate for a child that is 14 or under.

3. On Tuesday, January 28th, all Truedell students will have the opportunity to choose a book to take home from the Book Exchange.

As always, please reach out to us if you have questions or need support.

Take care,

K. Esford, Principal
