Rod's Random Thoughts
Happy Monday Hornets!
I hope you all had a great weekend and had a chance to enjoy some rest and relaxation. I was so excited to drive over the bridge again. I know that the bridge reopening will take a ton of stress off of staff and families. Even though the bridge reopening helped with stress, it was still hard for me to relax on Friday and Sunday due to those Mariners. Hopefully they find a way to beat Toronto one more time to make it to the World Series.
We successfully completed Homecoming Week at Enumclaw High School with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. We hosted 750+ students at the Field House at the Enumclaw Expo Center. Please see the Kudos section for some shoutouts to our chaperones. Our students and their guest did a great job and judging from the dancing, everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks to all the students and staff that volunteered their time and energy to make Homecoming Week a success.
This week we will try to recover and get things back to normal after a busy week at EHS. We have the usual full week of sports action, check the What's Happening section for details. We will also return to our usual schedule for the week.
Save the Date - EHS will host High School Conferences on November 20, 21, and 24th. Please monitor the Monday Memo for the next few weeks for more details.
In the Article of the Week Ingrid Guerra-López, dean of the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, challenges the common fear that AI will replace teachers. Instead, she argues that the real opportunity lies in how educators choose to use it. Guerra-Lopez argues that AI can actually make teachers’ work more meaningful by handling routine tasks like grading and lesson planning, freeing up time for what matters most: connecting with students and inspiring learning. Guerra-López contends that with the right training and mindset, AI can strengthen—not threaten—the teaching profession. Her message is clear and hopeful: technology will keep evolving, but teachers’ wisdom, creativity, and human connection will always be irreplaceable. I hope you check out the article.
That’s all for now. Let’s make it a great week.
