Safety Reminders
With the winter weather and snow mounds, please be extra vigilant and safe!
Friendly reminders for our Woodcrest Crossing Guards:
- All students and families should cross the street within the crosswalk with the crossing guard. Please remind students to walk and to stay within the crosswalk.
- Cars waiting to enter the front driveway should not stop in the crosswalk. This makes it difficult for other drivers to see pedestrians.
Arrival Reminders:
- Please cross at the designated crossing walk near the orange cones.
Do not pass or drive around cars that are in the drop-off line.
Please prepare your students to exit the car quickly. The drop off line is long due to the winter weather, and this will help to keep it moving.
Dismissal Reminders:
- Do not enter the bus loop in the back of the building to pick your child(ren). Not only does this slow down the buses for dismissal, but it also a safety concern.
- The parking lot is closed from 3:20-3:40 for dismissal. There is no driving in the parking lot during this time.
- Any changes to your child's dismissal procedure (e.g., if you are picking your child up instead of taking the bus) must be communicated to your child's teacher and Mrs. Petroski in the main office (npetroski@chclc.org).
Thank you to all of the families who are participating in the Great Kindness Challenge!
Due to the snow days, we will have our Shark Squads - Core Value Kindness on Monday, February 3. Students can wear Woodcrest Spirit Wear or Blue!
Starting on January 12, Woodcrest will be participating in the READBowl. We will be keeping a total of minutes spent reading and we will be competing for the highest student average. Within Woodcrest, classes are paired in their Shark Squads for this competition and the Shark Squad with the highest average number of minutes read will win! The competition culminates Super Bowl weekend.
Current Standings:
1. Lemon Sharks (Connolly, Kleiner/Vallen)
2. Angel Sharks (Altman/Pielichowski, Boyle)
3. Hammerhead Sharks (Volpe, Campisi, Riley)
Plastic Recycling
We are still continuing to collect plastic to recycle for an outdoor bench. We collected over 33lbs in December!
Take a look at the Recycling Challenge Slideshow for more information about what can (and cannot be recycled).
