*****This week and next, Hardy Happenings is longer than usual due to back-to-school information. Thank you for reading it in full.*****

Dear Hardy Families,

What an incredible first week back! From the very first day, our campus was buzzing with energy and joy. Highlights from the week included:

• An amazing Opening Day full of smiles and Hardy pride
• Students heading to PE at Hardy for the very first time with our new Coach Robinson, who is already a big hit with our Owls
• Students connecting with our new Counselor, Mrs. Garlejo, who is here to support their growth and well-being
• Students leading announcements in their classrooms
• The debut of our brand new SOAR T.V., which classrooms now tune into on Wednesdays
• Our first-ever Friday Morning Assembly — still to be named! This weekly assembly will spotlight student leaders, celebrate big wins, share attendance percentages, and more. And yes, we’ll always finish with a dance — I hope you’ll join us each Friday!

On Wednesday, we welcomed Dr. Bagula, Superintendent, Dr. Cazary, Area Superintendent, and Trustee Shana Hazan. We reflected on Hardy’s growth over the past 1.5 years and our vision ahead, then visited classrooms where students were developing mission statements and co-created class codes — a powerful glimpse of our Owls shaping their learning communities.

We truly packed a lot into week one, and I’m sure our staff — and probably your students — all slept well this past weekend!

As we settle into routines, please remember:
• Follow our traffic patterns carefully to keep arrival and dismissal safe.
• Complete your LCFF form in PowerSchool — last year, Hardy reached 100% participation, which brought in tens of thousands of dollars for our programs. Let’s do it again!

Mark your calendars:
• Back to School Night (adult-only) is Thursday, August 28. Principal Chat begins at 5:30 in the auditorium, with identical classroom sessions at 6:00 and 6:30.
• Additional Minimum Day is Friday, August 29.
• No School on Monday, September 1, for Labor Day.

It’s been such a joyful launch to the year, and I cannot wait to see all that we’ll accomplish together.

With gratitude,
Mrs. Aragon

SCHOOL INFORMATION SCHOOL INFORMATION

Important Traffic Reminders

General reminder
• The carline is not intended for getting out to assist with car seats. The carline is for independent students who can get in and out on their own. If your child needs help with a car seat, please park.

Left lane, parking
• Use the left lane only if you plan to park.
• If you have a student in a car seat, please park.
• If you do not have a student in a car seat, please reserve parking spots for our youngest families.

Right lane, car rider line
• Use the right lane if you are dropping off or picking up in the carline.
• This keeps traffic moving safely and smoothly.

Do not drop off in front of the front office
• Dropping your student off in front of the school leads to unsafe U-turns and blocks traffic. Please use the carline or park and walk.

Safety enforcement
• Officer Skinner, our school resource officer, observed our carline on Thursday afternoon.
• Families who park in front of the school or drop off outside of the carline may be cited or ticketed.

Help keep the line moving
• Have your student ready to go when you pull up, shoes on, backpack packed, unbuckled, and ready to exit quickly.

Lineup time
• Do not line up before 1:45 pm, 25 minutes before dismissal.
• Arriving before 1:45 pm blocks after-school employees, district food trucks, and families arriving for appointments.
• If you arrive before 1:45 pm, you will be asked to turn around and park off campus until the correct time.

Starting August 25
• When TK goes to full days, TK families may use the left lane to park at 1:45 pm.
• Non-TK families will be turned around until the gate opens for K–5 families at 2:00 pm.

LCFF Form Submission - Complete today!

Each year, the district asks for your help in securing important funding for our school by completing the LCFF form. The confidential 2025–26 LCFF form is now available electronically in your PowerSchool Parent Portal.

We are seeking 100% participation. By completing this form, Hardy can receive tens of thousands of dollars in additional funding to directly support our students and programs.

You need to complete the form once for each child. The easiest way to check if you’ve already submitted it is to log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal and click the LCFF Data Collection button on the bottom left side.

If you have any questions or need help setting up your Parent Portal, please contact mcurtin@sandi.net.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to complete this, your participation makes a big difference in our funding for Hardy!

PowerSchool Parent Portal Access

PowerSchool Parent Portal letters have been sent home only for students who are not currently linked to an existing parent account.

If you did not receive a letter, that means you already have a Parent Portal account connected to your student(s).

If you think you do not have an account, but also didn’t get a letter:

  1. First, try logging in at http://powerschool.sandi.net/public/ or reset your password.

  2. If that still doesn’t work, email mcurtin@sandi.net and we’ll help you get set up.

Birthday Celebrations

From our Hardy Guidebook: BIRTHDAY PARTIES/CAMPUS CELEBRATIONS

Arrangements to honor a child’s birthday on campus MUST be made in advance with the teacher. We are a ‘Healthy Celebrations’ school, which means we allow non-food items or healthy food only for celebrations. This disassociates junk food from celebrations. Please consider the following to celebrate birthdays on campus:

  • Fruit kabobs

  • Non-food items for the class: pencils, bookmarks, stickers, etc.

  • Donating a book to the class and having the teacher read it

  • Asking your child’s teacher to give five extra recess minutes

Please also refrain from bringing balloons/flowers/etc, as they can be distracting for the learning environment.

Secure Campus

Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, August 19, Hardy will return to being a secure campus in the mornings. This means that only students will be allowed through the gates at arrival.

We welcome and encourage parent volunteers, and ask that you always sign in at the front office and wear a visitor badge while on campus.

Safety is a shared responsibility, and together we can ensure a safe and positive environment for our students.
