A Message from the Superintendent
In GMSD, one of our overarching goals is to help students develop into productive citizens who recognize their potential to positively impact their communities and change the world for the better. Veterans Day provides a meaningful opportunity to recognize individuals who have devoted their lives to service and have been willing to sacrifice for our country. I can think of no better examples for our students than the men and women whose service has protected the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy every day.
As our schools prepare to honor veterans on Nov. 11, I hope our students recognize not only the sacrifices made on their behalf, but also the impact they can have through service to others. We're also seeing those lessons come to life as Election Day approaches. From helping eligible Houston High School students register to vote to our AP Government students interviewing candidates and preparing to cover local election results, our students are experiencing civic engagement firsthand.
I'm especially grateful to the candidates who took time to share their personal stories and what inspired them to pursue public service. These experiences remind us that the next generation of community leaders is already learning what it means to serve.

No School for Students Monday, Nov. 2: District Learning Day
Each year, GMSD sets aside several professional development days for teachers and staff to collaborate, learn new strategies and strengthen classroom instruction. Monday, Nov. 2, is one of those days! While students enjoy a day off, our staff will be hard at work participating in District Learning Day. It's an opportunity for our educators to grow professionally and bring fresh ideas back to their classrooms. Students return Tuesday, Nov. 3.
We Want Your Feedback on our TISA Plan
GMSD continues to build on strong student performance while setting ambitious targets for the years ahead. This year’s TISA Accountability Report focuses on four key areas: third grade ELA, math and Algebra I readiness, literacy, and college and career readiness. Current results provide the baseline for targeted work in early literacy, small group intervention, tutoring, math instruction, expanded early postsecondary opportunities and ACT preparation as GMSD works toward its 2029 goals.
As part of the annual TISA Accountability Report, GMSD is seeking community feedback on the district’s funding plan. The Germantown Board of Education will also welcome public comment at its meeting Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. at the GMSD District Office, 3350 Forest Hill Irene Road. Community input helps guide how we support our students and schools.

Parents will receive an email Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 28 with a link to view their child's report card. Parents can also view the Q1 report card anytime in their PowerSchool parent account. The email will include a stepsheet to access the report card.
