ELA 8

ELA 8 students have been studying poems written by children during the Holocaust. After selecting a poem that resonated with them, students analyzed it using the TPDASTT method and created butterflies that symbolically represent their chosen poem. This project is inspired by the Butterfly Project, which honors the 1.5 million children who perished during the Holocaust. Students will showcase their work, celebrate standout pieces, and compile the experience into a video documenting the project.

As an extension of this work, we are planning to create a small butterfly sanctuary outside the skybridge by planting Texas native wildflower seeds. If families would like to support this effort, donations of Texas native wildflower seeds are greatly appreciated.

ELA 8 students have also been learning about rhetorical appeals—ethos, pathos, and logos—and how authors use them to persuade their audience. Students analyzed how credibility, emotional connection, and logical reasoning strengthen an argument and influence a reader’s response.

Art Classes Participate in "Big Art Day"! Art Classes Participate in "Big Art Day"!

In honor of TAEA’s Big Art Day on March 5, Art 2 and Art 3 students collaborated to create this mural. Students created 110 individual pieces of art, which were then assembled like a puzzle. Students from multiple classes, along with the Advanced Art class, worked together to blend the lines, colors, and movement so the mural felt cohesive.

Great work by our talented art students and their teacher, Ms. Amanda Chambers!
