Chatham Elementary School Community Update

March 23, 2025

Dear Friends & Families of CES,

Every Friday a dedicated group of 4th-grade students give up their recess to collect and count tickets from all of the classrooms. This Friday, as the group was counting and tracking class averages, one of the students noticed the date and exclaimed, "How can it already be March 21st!" We all agreed that all of the great events at school make time fly by.

Speaking of great events, Thursday's Author's Night and Book Fair was a huge success. I was so impressed with the many writing projects on display and loved hearing our author's talk about their writing. Thanks to all who attended and made it a success. We plan on bringing it back next year and making it even bigger!

I would also like to thank the PTO and parent volunteers who organized last week's Book Fair. A lot of time and energy goes into this annual event. The students could hardly wait to purchase their new books and greatly appreciated the generosity of the PTO. Every SHARK at CES received one book free of charge from the PTO. Our SHARKS can't put their new books down!!

As you can clearly see, the CES PTO has been SUPER busy lately. I hope you can join us at today's Family Skate Event also sponsored by the PTO. This free event is open to Chatham and Harwich Elementary families. The event is taking place Charles Moore Arena in Orleans from 11 am to 1pm. And finally in PTO news, make sure to check out the SHARK Merchandise Pop Up Shop. Details can be found below on how you can order new SHARK gear.

With so much happening in our school and across the district, I wanted to give a shout out for the Monomoy Middle School's upcoming spring musical. For those who love a great show, make sure to check out the Middle School's production of SHREK Jr. this coming week (details in the Community Updates section) and cheer on some of our former CES SHARKS as they hit the stage.

It's the Final Week of Round I

16 books and several weeks ago we began our Annual CES March Madness Book Challenge. This week is the final Round I matchup is between WITH DAD and A VOICE FOR THE EVERGLADES and voting will take place in Media Class. Round II begins next week as we narrow our Great Eight Round One Winners to our Final Four!

Chatham Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

The PTO meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. Parents that would like to attend from home can connect via the Zoom Meeting Link provided below. There are lots of activities coming soon and all sorts of help is needed.
