Hello Parents and Families,
Dear Families,
I could not be more excited to be starting this year with you at Suntree Elementary! I've already been able to meet so many students and families and appreciate the warm welcome you have given me. I am deeply grateful for the campus beautification that happened over the past few weeks. The parents, families and students working on the weeds and mulching the mulch beds generously gave their time and did such a wonderful job. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Mrs. Landress and I, along with the whole Suntree staff, were excited to see so many of you at Meet the Teacher! We can tell this is going to be a wonderful year!
We are SO excited to welcome students in Grades 1-6 back on Monday, 8/10 and then our Kindergarten students on Thursday, 8/13; see you then!
I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing and safe summer with your families. Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns. You can reach me at barnett.sarah@brevardschools.org or by calling the front office at 321-242-6480.
Every Student, Every Day!
Sincerely,
Sarah Barnett
Dismissal Updates
ALL families have been issued two car tags for car loop pickup.
- EVERYONE should keep these tags. In case of Inclement Weather dismissal, biker/walkers/golf cart riders will be dismissed through the car loop and parents will need car tags for this.
- If you need more car tags or have gotten yours yet, please come to the office to pick them up before dismissal!
We will be going back to calling names on walkies.
- For everyone’s safety and to help dismissal run smoothly, cars will need to remain one behind the other in a single lane while waiting in the car loop.
- Please do not pull around or pass another vehicle. Staying in line helps us keep students safe and ensures a smooth and efficient dismissal for everyone.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation! đź’™
Inclement Weather Dismissal
If it is raining but there is no lightning, students will be released like normal. We encourage students who walk or bike home to have rain gear in their backpacks.
If there is severe weather in the area, or lightning, we will call an Inclement Weather Dismissal. This will be communicated to parents via email and text using Focus. When Inclement Weather is called, no student may be dismissed biker/walker/golf cart. Students will be dismissed through the car loop and all cars will need a car tag.
Please note that we will stop checking students out 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Monday through Thursday this will be 2:00 and on Fridays that will be 1:00. This is a routine practice and will continue on Inclement Weather Days. For the safety of staff and students, parents must remain in their vehicles when going through the car loop. Please do not walk up to the car loop.
Please keep your car tag for days like this. If you need more car tags, custodial parents can come with an ID and pick up more any day.
Change of Dismissal
If you need to change your child's dismissal plan for the day, you may do so until 1:30.
For safety reasons, we will not accept changes in dismissal after 1:30pm.
To change your child's dismissal, you may:
1. Send in a handwritten note with your child.
2. Send an email to your child's teacher AND suntreedismissals@brevardschools.org. If you send an email, you must attach a picture of your license.
Thank you for your understanding.
