Principal's Report
A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School East
A Word From Dr. Clune
Dear PV East Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! Happy New Year! As we kick off the new year, we are reaching out to you, our valued parents, to join us in creating an enriching and supportive learning environment for our middle school students. Your involvement is crucial to the success of our school community, and we are inviting you to become an integral part of it through volunteering. In particular, we are looking for parent volunteers to assist us in the Backstage Student Lounge during lunch times. Students win the privilege of eating in the Back Stage Lounge by earning tickets for good behavior. This is a coveted award by all students. The winners bring their lunches to the lounge, eat with their friends, play video games and play air hockey. We would love to have some parent volunteers to help monitor our students. Please use this link to sign up as a volunteer.

On Monday, January 15th there will be NO SCHOOL as we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. As a national day of service we are encouraging our students to particpate in the age-appropriate service opportunities being offered. There is more information below.
Our students returned from Winter Break motivated and engaged with learning. They were busy this week taking iReady assessments in Math and ELA. This data is used by our teachers to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions to students. Our students are also looking forward to our 6th Grade Winter Concert as well as the East/West Ice Skating Party. There are many upcoming activities so please follow us on Facebook and our website.
Sincerely,
Seamus Clune, Ph.D.

Parent Volunteers Needed
Another way students are rewarded for their ROCK behavior is through weekly drawings. Students win time in our Backstage Lounge which was so generously furnished by the PV Foundation. The lounge has cool furniture where students can eat lunch, an air hockey table, and an XBox One. We need parents to help us out during lunches to monitor students in the lounge. There are only 6 students in the lounge at a time, so it is a small group. Would you be able to donate some time during our lunches? If so, please sign up using this form:

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisit Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
