Class List Class List

On Sunday, student schedules and teacher assignments were temporarily visible. Now that they are live, please double check to ensure that everything is accurate. There were some minor changes to correct errors or redundancies, such as some students that were entered into two homerooms, for example.

Also, I want to extend my gratitude for your partnership during this process. Your input through the class placement forms and through separate communications was an important part of the process. I'm also grateful that so few of you made requests for specific teachers - I know that's hard, but thank you for honoring the work that our teams did to optimize these class lists and create balanced and equitable classrooms for all of our students.

The process of generating class lists for the 2024-25 school year was collaborative in nature and involved input from individuals from all aspects of our school. The integrity and professionalism of our staff is the foundation of our wonderful school. We feel that we know each of our students well. We know their learning styles, relationships with peers, academic strengths and challenges. Our intention has been to create groups of children who reflect heterogeneity and cohesiveness.

Student placement was based upon many considerations. Some of the influencing factors in this process include:

  • Balance of male and female students

  • A heterogeneous range of reading, writing, and math in each room

  • Consideration of emotional needs, giftedness, and other special needs

  • Separation of social conflicts

  • Balance of students with strong leadership qualities

  • Balance of students with good study habits

We received over 150 Class Placement Parent forms. If you provided information to add to our knowledge of your child’s social, emotional, or academic needs, it was included in our process. In the past, we may have made attempts to match up younger siblings with the same teacher that their older brother or sister had. We all understand and appreciate the value of relationships and the consistency that this offers. However, this factor does not supersede the overall goal of creating groups of children who reflect heterogeneity and cohesiveness. Please note, that requests for specific teachers were not a part of our process.

We ask you to respect the integrity of this process and the work that our staff put into creating balanced classrooms. We are excited for the upcoming school year and look forward to your continued partnership as we work together for the success of your child.

CCSD66 Student Handbook Update CCSD66 Student Handbook Update

CCSD66 has streamlined the Center Cass District 66 Student Handbook! One Handbook for All! This year, all three schools in our District will be following a single, unified handbook. This means clearer, consistent expectations for everyone.

We will continue to highlight components of the student handbook throughout the year. However, one of the notable changes this year is in regards to student cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices. To ensure a focused learning environment, student cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices will not be allowed during school hours starting this school year. Students can bring their electronic devices to school, but they must be powered-off and kept in a designated location for safekeeping until dismissal unless (a) permission is granted by an administrator, teacher or school staff member; (b) use of the device is provided in a student’s individualized education program (IEP); or (c) it is needed in an emergency that threatens the safety of students, staff, or other individuals.

We appreciate your continued support and commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment for all our students.

Start and End Times Start and End Times

Arrival and dismissal are a busy time at Elizabeth Ide Elementary School. Please partner with us to ensure our students, staff and community are safe.

Arrival

We begin our day with a soft start. Students may arrive at school starting at 7:30AM. Please do not arrive prior to this time. ALL students enter the building through our main entrance, Door #1.

Drop Off and Pick Up Lane

All cars will enter the drop off/pick up lane as indicated on the map below and create a single file lane. Please follow the directions of staff and signage.

  • Students must enter and exit the right side of the car.
  • Other people in the car MUST remain in the car at all times.
  • Please load and unload in the "LOADING ZONE" as indicated by the yellow on the map below.
  • Please pull all the way forward.

Dismissal: Our school day ends at 2:20PM.

  • Students registered for our Before and After Child Care (BACC) program will be dismissed to the LRC where they will be dismissed and transported to Prairieview Elementary School.
  • Car riders and Day Care Riders will be dismissed to the gym and will be called to the car rider lane in the order cars arrive. Please be sure to have your pick-up sign visibly displayed in your front window and remain in your car. The pick-up signs will be available at Meet the Teacher - be sure to take one.
  • Walkers and bike riders will be dismissed to the gym and families can meet them outside of Door #2.
  • Bus riders will be dismissed to the bus loading zone.

K-2 Lunch K-2 Lunch

K-2 students will be given 20 minutes to eat lunch with their class in our multipurpose room. Students have the option to either bring a lunch and drink from home or purchase a hot lunch. Lunch is not served on School Improvement (SIP) days. Students have the option to either bring a lunch and drink from home or purchase a hot lunch. Lunch (including milk) costs $4.25, milk only costs $0.75. To fund your child’s lunch account & set up auto pay, visit your MySchoolBucks account or send cash/check payable to CCSD66 in an envelope. The lunch menu for August can be found HERE; please check back for updates as it is not finalized, YET.

In accordance with the state goal of promoting good nutrition, parents are discouraged from bringing “fast food” in for their child’s lunch. Parents who choose to bring in “fast food” for their children’s lunch may do so only for their own child. Please note, school staff will not accept delivery of food items for students from outside vendors or establishments.

Center Cass District 66 prioritizes the health and safety of all students. Sharing of food is not allowed. This policy is implemented to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for everyone, especially those with food allergies. Parents must inform the school if their child is subject to a serious allergic reaction from certain foods.

We will spend our first few weeks of school teaching our lunchroom expectations. In the upcoming weeks, we will send more information about volunteering in the lunchroom.

A Good-bye Letter from Mrs. Martinez A Good-bye Letter from Mrs. Martinez

Dear Ide Families and Center Cass 66 Community,

I wanted to share that I will not be returning to the classroom this year. My husband has a wonderful opportunity to work in NYC and our family will be moving to New Jersey in the near future! We are very excited for a new adventure, but will miss this amazing community so very much. You all have made a huge imprint on our lives and in my heart as so many of yours teacher. We find comfort in knowing we always can come back and visit. Never hesitate to contact me as I’m only an email away. I wish you all the best with the start of the school year. Keep roaring that IDE Pride!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Martinez
