Good Afternoon,

We are excited to share a few important updates and upcoming events with you!

Hispanic Heritage Month & Night
September 15 – October 15 marks Hispanic Heritage Month. During this time, our students will engage in activities and learning experiences that celebrate the rich culture, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.
Please join us on Thursday, October 8, for our Hispanic Heritage Night. More details will be shared soon—we hope to see you there!

Safety Procedures
The safety of our students and staff remains a top priority. As part of our ongoing safety procedures, we will be conducting a lockdown drill on Thursday, September 24, 2026. We practice these drills to ensure that everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency.

There may be emergency vehicles at school during our drill. There is no need to worry!

Our Lancashire PAWS Pep Rally and Color Wars Parade will be held during the school day on Friday, September 25.

While families are not invited to attend, we want to ensure that students are prepared to show their school spirit by wearing their grade-level color:

  • Kindergarten: Red

  • First Grade: Yellow

  • Second Grade: Purple

  • Third Grade: Blue

  • Fourth Grade: Gray

  • Fifth Grade: Black

This student event will celebrate our school community and reinforce our PAWS expectations: Practicing Kindness, Acting Safely, Working Responsibly, and Showing Respect.

We look forward to a fun and spirited day. Go Lions!

Volunteer Approval Notification Process Change Volunteer Approval Notification Process Change

We are updating the way volunteers receive their approval notice.

In the past, we sent out emails with that information; however, most of us are very busy and don’t always check our email regularly.

Moving forward, we ask that you contact the office between 10 and 2, when the office is less busy. This will ensure that we have your application and that it is being worked on.

It usually takes about 2 weeks to receive a decision. During busy times of the year, it may take a bit longer. We hope this new update works well for everyone.

Counselor's Corner Counselor's Corner

It’s been a pleasure reconnecting with many families from last year and meeting some new families! Again, my name is Alyssa Maxwell, and I am returning as the school counselor here at Lancashire for my THIRD year!

As part of my school counseling program, I can work with your children individually, in small groups (more to come!) and occasionally in the classroom! In a few weeks, the Bullying Prevention Unit will begin with me coming to classrooms, 1st-5th, for Bullying Prevention Month! Kindergarten will begin receiving Kelso’s choices lessons from me in the classroom starting next week! Be sure to check your Class DoJo for more information regarding the upcoming lessons!

Lancashire is partnering with The Center for Child Development again this year. Miss Catherine Marge is returning as the social worker this year and has begun working with students. She is on site every Wednesday. She is accepting new and returning clients to her caseload.

It is insurance-based therapy, and both parents/guardians are required to complete the forms. If you are interested in additional support and counseling for your child, you can register and provide your insurance information at this link: : New Clients (English), New Clients (Spanish), Returning Clients.

If you want to get in touch with me, my extension at school is 124 and my email is Alyssa.Maxwell@bsd.k12.de.us. I have also been added to classrooms in ClassDojo.
