The Region Jazz Band Clinic and Concert is Tuesday, March 28th at Davenport HS. Students will wear all black.

Schedule for the day

• 8:30 am - Check in at Black Box
• 9:00 am - Rehearsal begins
• Noon - Lunch break - bring food or eat in cafeteria
• 1:00 pm - After noon rehearsal begins
• 4:00 pm - Dinner break - bring food or have delivered
• 6:00 pm - Check in for concert fully dressed in concert uniforms
• 6:30 pm - Concert begins
• 8:30 pm - Approximate end time

Students will need to have a plan for lunch and dinner - either bring food or make arrangements to have food delivered. Eating lunch in the cafeteria for lunch is an option.

Symphonic Band goes to UIL on Tuesday, April 11, and Wind Ensemble goes to UIL on Wednesday, April 12. We are having one after school rehearsals per band the week of UIL Concert and Sight Reading to make sure the groups are ready for contest after the 4-day Easter weekend (April 7-10). Please mark your calendars now.

Tuesday, April 11th (School day, but band directors will be at contest with Symphonic Band during the school day)

• 11:00 am - Sight Reading
• 11:30 am - Change clothes and load
• 12:30 - Peter Piper Pizza
• 1:30 - Leave for DHS
• 2:00 - Back on campus - Go to 6th period :)

Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will continue passing off music this week during class and sectionals. These will be quiz grades in the gradebook. Pass offs are due by Friday, March 31st. Please notice there are 4 different tabs on the google sheet with pass off chunks and rosters to follow our progress.

Our Jazz Band has been asked to play at the Comal ISD retirement banquet at Allen Farmhaus on Thursday, May 4th from 5:30-6 pm. Dinner will be provided. More details to follow.

We will be taking nominations from the floor at Band Booster Exec Board Elections at our April Band Booster Meeting on April 19th at 6:30 pm in the DHS Auditorium.

The Comal ISD School Board called for a bond at their workshop on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. I encourage you to educate yourself and others regarding the bond, and I encourage everyone to vote. Information about the bond can be found by following the link below.

Proposition B will benefit the band and color guard by giving us additional seating in our stadium. Comal ISD residents will have the opportunity to vote in the bond election on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, April 6. Early voting begins April 24 and runs through May 2.

All students who advanced to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest will be attending the contest on May 29th with the exception of the trumpet quartet playing Dos Tiempos. The district has decided to send us the day of instead of the day before. We will not be staying overnight at a hotel the night before. More details to follow.
