Westmoor Weekly 02/20/26
February 20, 2026
A Note from Principal Eck
Dear Westmoor Families,
The warmer temperatures earlier this week gave us a little taste of spring! Today, however, winter reminded us it’s still here — and that we definitely need our jackets for outdoor recess.
Our students had the opportunity to preview several Science Fair projects in advance of tonight’s Science Fair and STEM Night. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to celebrate their learning. We hope you’ll be able to join us this evening!
Next Wednesday, February 25th, our Packs will come together for a paper airplane challenge and a school-wide assembly. Please be sure your child wears their Pack T-shirt so we can show our school spirit.
We also truly need your support with completing the 5Essentials Survey. Currently, we are at 9% parent/family participation, and our goal is 100%. Your voice matters, and your feedback helps guide our school improvement efforts. Please see the information below for details on how to participate.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community!
Quote of the Week
Each week students may submit a positive quote that captures and motivates their peers to persevere and feel good. We then showcase the quotes throughout the school building. Students may submit a quote, using this link.

SCHOOL NEWS
We Need your Input about Westmoor!
Between now and March 13, students, teachers, and families across Illinois have the opportunity to participate in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent/guardian, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Westmoor. We want to hear your perspective on your child’s education and learning environment.

After-School Pick Up and Playground Safety
Student safety is always our top priority, especially at dismissal.
We want to remind families that all students must be picked up by an adult after school if they plan to remain on school grounds, including the playground. Recently, we have noticed a few students who are designated as walkers staying on the playground to wait on their own. For safety reasons, students may not remain on school property unsupervised after dismissal.
If your child is a walker and goes directly home after school, that is absolutely fine. However, students may not stay on campus unless they are with a supervising adult. Students who are not picked up and remain on the playground will be escorted to the office, and families will be contacted for pickup.
Thank you for your help in ensuring all of our students get home safely each day. We truly appreciate your partnership and support!
Share a picture with us!
We’re excited to showcase the special moments and achievements of our students and their families. Whether it’s a holiday, cultural tradition, a child’s milestone like riding a bike without training wheels, a big win at a soccer game, welcoming a new pet, or anything else that makes you proud — we’d love to feature it! Here is the link to share a photo and brief description.
